I was visiting from Texas and it was my last day so we decided Pop's would be good for takeout. We did the sampler. It was take out, ordered at the bar. We were promptly helped and the waitress was great, however after 40 minutes we are still waiting. Another 10 minutes go by and we FINALLY get our food. The sampler has a smoked chicken, ribs, pulled pork and brisket with 2 sides; we chose mac and cheese and fried okra. The sampler also came with dinner rolls. We got home and the food was luke warm, no rolls, mushy congealed mac and cheese and burnt okra. Honestly the flavor of the meat was good but being luke warm it turned greasy fast. The brisket was actually sitting in grease. The mac and cheese tasted like it was from the day before, dried out with no cheese sauce. And the fried okra wasn't even edible it was so burnt. So we didn't eat the sides after a bite but like I said the actual flavor of the meat was good. Our problem was the 45 minute wait for our food and it being luke warm like the food sat in the kitchen and forgotten. So upsetting because my Key Cudjoe Aunt bragged about Pop's. She says the food trucks are so much better. Will not be back. Texas BBQ...

My family tried the sampler and it was gone before I opened the lid good 😅.
The sampler included: BBQ rib Brisket Pulled pork 2 sides - We chose the Baked Beans and the Mac n Chz 2 choices of BBQ sauce 2 Hawaiian rolls
I am a messy vegetarian/pescatarian, so I sampled the baked beans and the Mac n Chz…yum and yum across the board! Omg the beans are so smokey and full of flavor. As for the meat, the family was so happy to have something delicious so close.
I was told: the ribs and the brisket are win win🏆. The chicken and the pulled pork combined with the amazing sauces are a sure fire combination! The smokey flavors are embedded throughout and the texture of each meat sample is moist and tender.
Thank you for sharing your amazing story and we can’t wait to order...
Read moreHeard lots of great things but being that it is the only BBQ place around I can see why people say it is "good". The meat was cooked PERFECTLY but lacking flavor. The Mac n cheese is COMPLETELY flavorless and dry, the noodles were overcooked as well. The rolls are obviously kings Hawaiian sweet rolls. The BBQ sauce is in sweet baby ray jugs in plain sight when you order and is clearly not house made. I dont care but don't advertise that it is house made. Claimed the sampler platter is enough for 2 people when it is only 16 Oz of meat with soggy yellow noodles, pre-made sauce and rolls for over 40 dollars. Not upset, had to try it. Will not be back unless it's the only thing open and I'm drunk but they're closed half of the week as well. I'll make my own brisket for half the price of a one person meal. Congratulations on the new business but yall cam definitely step it up woth very few...
