Sushi takeout with excellent prices and portions. It really is located in a weird little nook…You can’t dine in and you should really wait to get home or park somewhere safer with light LOL. Order ahead through text, they prefer it that way and will tell you!
It’s hard to rate because it’s a great value, but it’s just not the BEST quality. It’s very SOLID. That’s not a bad thing, we’ve been here 3 times already for an affordable and reliable sushi fix. I haven’t tried other sushi in Stockton, so it’s possible this is a 5 compared to all of those but not my california in general scale. They have a large menu, but I find myself feeling like there’s not much to explore at the same time.
I should also disclose that everything is mostly salmon…this is where I’m unsure about quality. When I taste the salmon alone, I’m just not impressed. It’s not sour or bad. I mean I keep ordering salmon so obviously it’s fine lol but the higher quality places have salmon that is very flavorful and creamy on its own. I’m trying all the salmon rolls so I know what should be my “go to” order for salmon cravings.
So far: (All star - $16ish) Jimmies place roll (non salmon) - we always like trying the namesake..But hard pass and it’s expensive too 😭 very sweet and fried tasting.
(Special -$13ish) Salmon deluxe roll - very plain but solid avocado and salmon with smushed spicy(?) salmon inside. Might make you reach for the sriracha lol. Monika roll ❤️ - my favorite so far! Spiced up avocado and salmon with salmon chunks and avocado inside. Orange dragon roll ⭐️ - really similar to the monika but with tempura shrimp. I love tempura but monika was what I went for.
(Normal rolls - $6ish) Golden gate roll ⭐️ - first time with salmon skin. It just tastes like shrimp tempura to me which is great! And impressive presentation and pizazz compared to the other normal rolls. Good size too. My favorite of the normal rolls. Alaska roll - basic salmon and avocado with rice. Good, but not as filling as the special rolls obviously. Salmon maki roll - kinda sour sushi rice and a little salmon wrapped. Ehh, idk why I’d get this when the other normals are similar price and bigger.
Anyway, big thumbs up for sushi veterans and newbies alike who just want to dig into some solid sushi without the...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer of Jimmies Sushi in Stockton for several years, and while their sushi is consistently good, my recent experience with their service has left me very disappointed.
I placed an order for five rolls for delivery and wanted to add a few more items. My sister-in-law called the restaurant to inquire about this, but the staff informed her that since I ordered through ChowNow, my order wasn't eligible for delivery. Confused, I called Jimmies directly but had my call declined twice. I then received a text directing me to communicate via message.
I explained the situation, including that my sister-in-law had confirmed the order and that I had received a notification stating my order would be delivered at 5:52 PM. I paid for the delivery fee and included a tip for the driver. Instead of addressing my concerns, I received a response stating that I needed to place a new order.
I agreed and requested a refund for my initial order so I could place a new one that incorporated both my original items and what my sister-in-law wished to add. I was then asked to pay via Venmo or Zelle for the new order amount. However, while I was en route to pick up this new order, I received a delivery notification from ChowNow indicating my original order was on its way to my house.
Upon arriving at Jimmies, I spoke to a staff member—a tall Mexican man in his 50s with gray hair—who was not only unhelpful but also very rude. He raised his voice during our conversation and refused to provide his name when I asked. There was also a younger Mexican man standing behind him, who was going through our text messages while we spoke and nodded in agreement as my sister-in-law and I explained our confusion. The older man even threatened to inform his boss about the situation instead of working to resolve it.
As a long-standing fan of their sushi, this experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I hope the management takes the time to address these service issues and the behavior of the staff involved to improve the customer experience...

The food was really amazing! We ordered the Green Dragon, so fresh and light. The Lady In Red, nice and packed with flavor. I don’t find it spicy but my friend, did think it had a kick. I don’t remember the name of the other two but one was deep fried and it was nice, hot and yummy. We poked holes to help vent it out. We also got a Appetizer the Fried Calamari, it was a great try. Very well done. I loved the elements of the fried and battered jalapeño and onion And the sauce they paid with was also great. However, I did find it an item that once you’ve had it once there, unless you’re really craving it. I don’t see myself personally getting it again. Not because it wasn’t good, but simply because we were so happy with the selection of sushi, we made that I’d rather try something else on the menu next time.
The service also was really nice and friendly. If you’re looking at dining in go through the front, where the picnic are if you’re looking to do a pick up order on the right side by the far end of the parking lot. Also, the DoorDash pick up I believe is in the dining room but I might be wrong it was just what I saw...
