We drove past this place and decided to stop and give it a try. The food smelled really good so I stopped by. What I found was truly a hidden treasure. First I got the chance to meet Neil, his, wife, and his crew. What a great group! Neil is absolutely hilarious and hanging out with him is well worth the trip. Full of jokes and a load personality. He makes you feel right at home and you'll never want to leave.
Now for the food. Everything was seasoned perfectly and smoked to perfection. The ribs were meaty and tender. The chicken and tri tip I would venture to say weee the best I've ever had. Seriously. He has BBQ sauce, but I have no idea what it tastes poke because you don't need it. See that pic with the sauce in the background? You can leave it there because you don't néed it. The chicken was extremely juicy and tender. I have no idea how he makes it so tender but sheesh. The tri-tip has no fat whatsoever and is lean and tender.
If you are ever in Stockton this place is well worth the drive. I live in Bakersfield and I'm definitely coming back.
Enjoy the pictures, coming here is not just about the food. It's...
Read moreA buddy of mine and I stopped randomly here on our way back from Tahoe and got to experience the pure awesomeness of Neil's BBQ. Neil was a wonderfully entertaining host, when you're there you're definitely in his world and you'd better hang on! His wife was super sweet and you can tell that he is a figure in the community based on how he interacts with all the locals that stop by. The food was simple, but amazingly tasty! The ribs were flavorful and it's always my favorite when you have to work em off the bone a little. The tri-tip was suuuuper tender and juicy, practically melted in my mouth. It wasn't on the menu, but Neil offered up some tri-tip chili which was excellent! Ask him for it! This is a new staple spot next time and every time I am in Stockton, as much for the bomb food as just to kick it with Neil! Keep up...
Read moreBackground: On a trip back up to Chico from LA, we stopped at Neil’s BBQ and I ordered a 1/2 order of the pork ribs. Everything was massively beyond my expectation: taste, friendliness, and service. You’ll be lucky if you catch the owner, Neil on site. He’s very personable and I had a great time shootin’ the s* with him and Robert(very talented cook and certified BBQ bada) these guys were a riot and I woulda hung out longer if I could.
The food: On point and FIRE. Best BBQ pork ribs I’ve probably ever had. The sauce was something out of a vaulted chained family secret s*. Perfectly complemented the meat and texture.
Conclusion: I don’t always roll through Stockton, but when I do, I will be sure to pay my brothers a visit at Neil’s...
