Sherman's #3 Chinese Buffet — Restaurant in Stockton

Update: Wednesday, February 28, 2024 PM Sherman’s sounded kind of good for dinner. It was either that or Mickey D’s. I figured for 10 bucks, why not? They were busy the entire time I was there. Pretty much a line to the door for takeout. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Fried rice is kind of bland. I did not try the chow mein. The boneless garlic chicken thighs are pretty good. the peel and the shrimp were good. They had barbecue chicken instead of barbecue pork which was OK. The soda is weak The sweet-and-sour pork and orange pork… I think it was pork it could’ve been chicken, was NOT GOOD‼️ Pretty much hard little lumps of dough, sometimes you get a piece of fat, but very little pork meat. Everything was always hot and fresh since they were so busy. That’s the reason I only go to buffets during the busy time i.e. dinner hour. I’m sure I will go back at some point… I mean for 10 bucks‼️

—————— Update: Wednesday, February 7, 2024 dinner I need to give this place an additional star. They did a good job tonight. I went here because the Pershing store is closed on Wednesday which I did not realize. I have no complaints about eating here tonight. I believe this was better than the last time I was here which was shortly after they first opened. Then the food was just so-so. Putting it in context and remembering that it’s a buffet and only $10 you definitely get your moneys worth. No, it’s not gourmet but if you go during peak hours the food is normally hot and fresh! How can you beat that for 10 bucks? It’s a better deal than McDonald’s! There are several Sherman restaurants in town and they seem to close on different days which is great so if one is closed you can go to the next one! Genius ——————— Dinner buffet. All you can eat. $10. You get what you pay for. I imagine you can eat $10 worth. They have barbecued pork, shrimp, cream cheese puffs, Fried chicken, orange chicken, chow mein, fried rice, egg flower soup plus more.

Like all of buffets, it’s definitely best to go during peak hours i.e. lunch or dinner. The food is fresher.

I went into Sherman's #3 Chinese Buffet after getting off work. My husband and I decided we both were too exhausted from work to cook. Sherman's is usually good, and convenient. I went in with my husband. My teenager stayed in the car with his twin brother's while we went in. I proceeded to order 3 kids meals, and meals for my spouse and myself. As I was attempting to order the 3 kids meals, the female food service worker told me I wasn't allowed to order 3 kids meals unless my kids were present. I was stunned. She rendered me completely silent. I asked her to repeat herself because I wanted to make sure I heard what she said. She then repeated herself again. Instead of yelling and screaming, which is clearly what she was expecting me to do because I am a black woman. I calmly turned around, asked my 3 boys to enter the establishment. They had no idea why, but they got out. We then re-entered the restaurant together. She promptly made their kids meals, but didn't apologize. She embarrassed me in front of a restaurant full of people. I got my sons food because they were hungry. My husband and I lost our appetite and didn't want a damn thing. I now go to Sherman's #5 on Pershing. They're more friendly, I order kids meals with and without my son's without any resistance. The food is hotter, fresher, and customer service impeccable. Had great hopes for this Sherman location. The previous one we went to we enjoyed. This one is a disappointment. They did a brisk business and all the food looked tasty and fresh, however we were sorely disappointed when we tried the buffet. The fried chicken and sweet and sour dishes, fun and chow mein were especially dried out and all the dishes weren't even hot all dishes were lukewarmed, even the fresh food they brought out from the back.
