We went here today for lunch, with the intention of ordering the double cheeseburger and crinkle fries. At the door, was a special menu board with Pot Roast or Chicken Fried Chicken, with 2 sides and a bread choice. I immediately switched to the chicken, house made mashed potatoes and house made creamed corn with dinner rolls. Everything was fantastic! The fried chicken was a pounded breast that was so juicy with a great crispy coating and covered in a light brown gravy that had tons of flavor. The creamed corn had zero cob shells (yay!) it was slightly sweet and reminded me of how my mom used to make it. The mashed potatoes had a perfect texture and everything was perfectly seasoned. I donât know if the rolls were house made but they were very soft with a buttery, slightly crisp top and I ate every bite. I even got to taste test the sweet potato casserole. It was the BEST! The potatoes were fresh, not canned and it had a brown sugar, cinnamon and pecan topping. This casserole is not just for Thanksgiving!
Hubs stuck with his original choice. We traded bites and that double cheeseburger was wonderful! The patties were thin and crispy edged. it came with SHREDDED (wahoooo) head lettuce, tomato and mayo on a toasted bun. We are both âcrinkle snobsâ - we need golden brown, crunchy, salty exteriors and soft potato inside. These fries were out of this world and not a soggy one in the bunch! Riding the cheeseburger, french fry high, Hubs then decided to try the all beef hotdog, ATW. I tasted this too and it was yummy! The dog was grilled, juicy and had a good snap. The slaw was tiny chopped shreds and slightly sweet. The chili was a very fine grain and had excellent flavor. The bun was buttered and lightly grilled.
Holly was our server and she was so bubbly and had us laughing before we even ordered. Sheâs one of those people that sees the good, not the bad and was super friendly and efficient. Loved her!
Kord was also helping. He was polite and a very hard worker. He even went around to all the tables asking if everything was alright, did they need anything? He started to use a push broom and because he was literally just doing a single push, all the way from the front to the back, there was no debris or dust flying around. He was very courteous and asked if we minded, we didnât.
We got all of this delicious food for only $27.00 + tip. As we paid, Holly introduced us to the owner, Cassandra. I recognized her from the Facebook page. She was very nice and appreciative of our business.
Note: we got there at 1:00 and they were already out of the Pot Roast. It must be fantastic because everyone that was told they were out, went, âAwww!â They ran out of the chicken around 1:30. Yes. It was that good!
Stop in and give BJâs Grill the love they deserve. Youâll get fantastic food at very reasonable prices and...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here this past weekend for the first time. We were in the area and just happened to choose here to eat for breakfast. We walked in and sat down at the booth and waited for someone to come and take our order. We waited around 8 minutes and noone came. The restaurant was not busy at all. We noticed the cashier and there was about 10 people standing in line to check out. Tables all dirty like everyone had decided to leave at the same time. After all the people had paid and left still noone came to our table - by now around 13 minutes. I finally went up to the lady and asked her if we order there or if she will come to us - she said she'd be there in a minute. It was only her and the cook working. she brought our menus and walked away and started bussing the dirty tables. We then got our coffee and ordered our food. The food finally came and it was actually really good - not at all greasy - very tasty. Typical "diner" type food. The only thing I didnt like was the styrofoam plates, plastic forks and spoons and styrofoam coffee cups. Plus very old and dirty inside. I agree with other posters that this place could use a definate overhaul and remodel. I think if I was in that area again I would definately go back. The waitress was not at all friendly but maybe that is because she was working alone and was busy. Who knows. We had some extra time to kill to get to where we were going so we werent in a big hurry which made the experience of waiting so...
Read moreHistorically (over the seven years I've visited), this restaurant has managed to serve good fast food at a great price. But, over the past year or so, the quality of the food has diminished. It's still okay, though a little less than mediocre. But, my biggest disappointment was realized while checking the sanitation grade to find that it barely passed with an "A" (90.5%).
A quick look around the dining area is enough to make most patrons uneasy - heavy amounts of dust hanging from the ceiling, stains from a leaky roof... How long has that splatter of ketchup been on the wall? I'm pretty sure it is the same splatter from my last visit. Signs of neglect and apathy abound. And, a trip to the restroom reveals a consistent pattern.
I know sanitation grades don't tell the whole story. But, with such poor examples of cleanliness out in the open, I really don't care to know what the inspector found wrong elsewhere. I'd rather hear how an "A" was earned.
EDIT: Finally, the grade has improved to a decent A-grade at 95%. So, I braved trying the food again. It was also better. But, the dining area is still scary.
Owners/managers: Good job of improving your sanitation grade. But, the dining area hasn't improved at all. Please, clean the dining area! ... the ceiling, the walls, everything. And, strip that thick layer of yuk off the floor...
