Back in the day, when Mama Lena’s was at the McKees Rocks bridge and Mama, herself, regularly oversaw the works, I was a Pittsburgh transplant searching for the best of the best, and just happened to stumble in one evening after a game looking for a pizza fix. Did I say fix? Well, I left with an addiction—whether a regular pie, terrific hoagies, or my ultimate, the Sicilian, Mama Lena’s became my go-to. Business meeting? Mama Lena’s. Date? Mama Lena’s. Visiting from out of town? Mama Lena’s. So when I left the ‘Burgh, I was crushed, and while I found plenty of good pizza in my new metropolis, it just wasn’t Mama Lena’s. While I was away I heard rumors they closed, then, that they moved, and I promised myself that when I did return to Pittsburgh, I’d seek them out for my Sicilian Jones—flaky, almost pastry like thick crust, perfectly seasoned sweet sauce with subtle kick, and just the perfect amount of whole milk (not oily) cheese.. Lo and behold, on a Rocks corner not far from the OG restaurant, was Mama Lena’s II! Same incredible pizza, with Mama’s family still behind the counter doing it just the way I remember—and just the way she would have. Bonus they remembered me—and the old Bronco I drove to grab my pies—and I literally shed a tear of joy as I bit into my first piece in 15 years. I say skip the typical joints profiled everywhere, the rigged top 10 and pay to play Yelp reviews, and be adventurous—it’s not the best neighborhood in the ‘Burgh, but sure as hell has the best pizza in it!

Pretty alright pizza shop in McKee’s Rock. Solid place for several other greasy options. The prices are quite reasonable. I decided to try out their cheese calzone and their cinnamon sticks/fried dough. The calzone was pretty good. It was on the sauce heavy side, and the sauce was decent. They do use what seems to be cheese chunks in the calzone, which isn’t my favorite style. But, I like the extra dusting of cheese on top, and it’s still a solid calzone overall. Good size as well. And, their ranch was quite good; went surprisingly well with the calzone. The cinnamon sticks were a disappointment. They aren’t actually sticks, like breadsticks, but rather tiny pieces of fried dough with cinnamon on top. A bit too crunchy but strangely stale at the same time. It comes with some frosting. Good portion for an okay price. All in all, a very decent local pizza shop. Solid calzone, okay dessert. I probably won’t come back, but it’s not a bad option.

Garbage pizza. You can't even eat it because of the huge air pockets take up 50% of the pizza which pushes all the cheese off the slice. It's not rocket science. Obviously do not know how to make dough. Wings and wedding soup is good. But will never order again bc rude staff.

$32 for a large pizza.. is this a joke? Fiores Pizza; one of the best of the best pizza places around, doesn't even charge that much!! If you look at their old menu picture prices posted the photos are 4 years old...4 years ago a large specialty pizza was $19 at this establishment and today when I called they said it would be $32!! They are clearly price gouging people. I pray people stop giving this place business so they are forced to lower the prices OR shut it down. SMH $32 for a large pizza IN THE HOOD TOO!! Lmao, they are charging Mt. Lebanon prices in the hood they should be ashamed of themselves smh

Edit: in response to the response the "owner" gave me for my review I will say this: I called and asked about a large specialty pizza & the person on the phone told me it was $32 NOT what you are claiming @ $26.99. I never even mentioned a large cheese pizza. What? I was referring to a posted menu picture from four years ago that said a large specialty back then was $19. So, $19 to $32 (but now your claiming is actually $26.99) because of covid, really? I also noticed in someone else's review they also noticed your dramatic bait n switch price changes, so I'm not the only one noticing this. I also know that I've bought pizza all around pittsburgh for years BEFORE AND AFTER COVID and never noticed so much of a price increase maybe a tiny bit but nothing so dramatic I felt a duty to give a google review lol I guess I'll stick to the supposed "inferior" pizza shops we eat at and you can keep them...

We had a terrible experience at Mama Lena's. We placed a takeout order and took it home with us when it was ready. I had a horrible shock when I discovered that I had bitten into chicken (I have been vegetarian since I was a child) in the eggplant parmesan that I ordered. Mind you, when I placed the order, I said "eggplant parmesan," the cashier said, "chicken parmesan?" to confirm, and I shook my head and said, "eggplant parmesan" very loudly and clearly and she repeated "oh ok, eggplant parmesan" back to me. When I called the restaurant after making this horrible discovery, the two staff with whom I spoke did not seem to find this to be any kind of major issue and offered to make us drive back, which is 45 minutes round trip, to pick up a properly made eggplant parmesan or to just be refunded for the sub, which obviously I wasn't going to eat. I asked to speak with the owner and he was not there, though they were open. They took down my name and number and told me that he would call me today. He has not. It was a miserable experience and one we will never be repeating.

Beyond that, the other food we ordered was pretty bad. We would give it 2 stars. It's just a greasy food joint that tries to make things taste good by just loading cheese and...
