Update on Al's Place:
I've lived here for 20 years and was coming to this restaurant before it was Al's place. We are regular customers and know most the people working here. We just placed an order for lunch to pick up today. Got back home and realized they had forgotten our soup. Previously when they would forget something they would always make it right. I called to let them know about this and right away the guy on the phone had an attitude with me and wouldn't let me talk. He told me I didn't get soup. I tried to Tell him we specifically orderd the chicken soup with our dinners. He got more rude and wouldn't listen to what I had to say. I told him I'd like to talk with a manager. He informed me he was the owner of the business. I told him really he's the owner and he won't listen to his customers that have been coming for years!!!!!!!! He then started accusing me of cussing him out and calling him a bunch of names. REALLY I didn't do any of that I told him he just lost a long time customer and believe me he didn't care. I told him if this is how he treats his customers his business isn't going to last long WOW!!!!!! I encourage anyone that goes here to be careful of this man!!!! Upon entering you will be wowed by the building's unique internal architecture decorated in a classy, modern style that surprisingly maintains a certain hometown charm and family atmosphere. The staff pleasantly greet you at the door and are marvelously polite throughout your entire experience. The variety of their offerings is a daunting task to navigate. So many delicious choices, you may find yourself pleading for more time to decide. The food was an absolute perfection, the presentation bold, the taste flavorful and rich. In all this decadence of a meal, the value was what most struck me. Large, filling proportions without jumping into the realm of ridiculous, and modest prices that permit one to enjoy their restaurant daily. I have nothing but praise for this restaurant that helped this traveler and his friends feel a little closer to home. If this review seemed lavish in nature or perhaps you think I'm speaking in hyperbole, I'll be waiting on your apology after you've...
Read moreWe decided to try out their Friday night, All-you-can-eat cod dinner, and I've got to say that it was as good or better than described.
It came with 2 sides and rolls and, to our surprise, included dessert (usually my favorite part of a meal).
Unfortunately, the dessert quickly became the disappointment of the meal. We tried 2 of my favorite cakes, Red Velvet and Carrot, both with what I imagined would be a butter cream frosting.
To be honest, both cakes were very dry, and the frosting left a lot to be desired. Neither one of them warranted a second bite.
Needless to say, the dessert wouldn't bring me back, but the cod certainly would... we ordered the second round when they delivered the first, and it was there before we finished 2 of the 4 pieces we each received in the first order... Nicely done.
Plus, our waitress, while I don't remember her name, was a real sweetheart, with a great attitude and a beaming smile.
And bonus... there is a DQ just down the street...
