Day of visit: Monday Time: 6pm ---- First of all, to the other review who whined about this place using plastic menus, we were asked if we wanted the choice of scanning (digital QR code etc) menu or regular plastic menu. Being that we're not covid-paranoid, we opted for plastic menus. So far we're still living. Also, the bathroom had soap AND hand sanitizer, and the outdoor dining area did not appear "grungy", so not sure exactly where the previous reviewer's perspective came from. This is why I try to put date and time in my reviews, because food/service etc can vary wildly from Monday afternoon to what it's like on a slammed Saturday night.
Now, onto the food and service:
I ordered a cod sandwich w/ fries ($9). Nothing too difficult so far as cooking it right -- I should add this was our first visit, so I tend to order "easy" things thinking omg, if they mess this up, I'll never try anything else. Believe me, I've had some horrible "easy" menu items but the fish (while obviously pre-breaded, frozen variety cod) was neither over-under cooked or greasy. The sandwich roll was fresh, the lettuce as well, not brown and sad like I've seen at some places.
The star of the show however, was my son's burger. He ordered one of their 1-pound signature burgers w/ fries ($11) It was really big and when he cut into it and I saw it was a perfectly cooked to order medium rare, I asked if we could do halfsies and share our meals. The patties were real beef, as in, not a preformed, pre-frozen, impossible to pink-cook patty. The meat was not heavily seasoned, but to me that's good. I can put salt/pepper on to my own tastes. It was so juicy and good! Honestly the best burger either of us have had in a long while. The fries on their own, meh, I've had better, I've had worse. The main item though was so good that the fries were overall inconsequential.
All together, both meals and one soda came to $23 and I said that I've had half the quantity of food for more than that price that left me not really even wanting to pay for it because I was so dissatisfied. That certainly wasn't the case at Mulligan's. We were both quite full, no take-home meh maybe I'll eat it, maybe I won't leftover boxes.
Service was attentive and friendly, just right.
Mulligan's Strongsville is 20 miles from our home, and we both agree it's worth going back to explore their good-sized menu and daily specials!
Edit: went back on a Friday night and meal was just as good, service only...
Read moreWe won a gift card to Mulligans, so we decided to try it. When we walked in, nobody greeted us (the bartender was behind the bar that was right at the door we walked in) so we waited a couple minutes and then decided to seat ourselves. The first booth we picked the back was broken and I thought my daughter and I were going to fall backward out of it. Our waitress was just fine, and we didn't have long wait times. But two of my kids got the Mac and cheese, and there was so much grease, it was just pooled everywhere and was dripping off the pasta. My older son and I had fries with our meal and they were so brown they were almost black from the grease being so old. My husband got wings with half mango haberno and half suicide, the waitress couldn't tell him which was which and he said you couldn't tell much of a difference. We are glad to have tried a different place in Strongsville, but I don't think we...
Read moreBought a Groupon for dinner for two. Took my son out for a little conversation over drinks and dinner. I have been there in the past and the food was always good. The ribs we had were delicious and fall off the bone tender with delicious BBQ sauce. The basket of fries were mounded high, hot and fresh. My son's chicken wrap was ample and also very tasty. There is a fairly good sized seating area that was pretty crowded which is a good indication that people flock to this place for more than just the bar atmosphere. We chose to sit at the bar and eat so we could be seated right away. We are planning other trip their for another father-son outing. They also serve breakfast here, but have yet to go for one. Maybe one day we'll...
