Update: we ordered Ruby's and picked it up since going into the restaurant is a huge nope. Save your money, time, and hunger and eat somewhere else. EVERYTHING was cold but burnt, and not just a little burt. Everything was CRISP and completely inedible. Disgusting people and food seems to go hand in hand at Ruby's. If I could give negative stars, I would. 10/10 would not recommend as mentioned below drive the extra 10 mins to the Chuckwagon in Adair. QUALITY food and people there.
BIG NOPE. Slow service only because the bartenders, servers, and cooks pick and choose who they want to serve. They obviously have their favorites. My family of 3 watched as all the other tables that came in almost half an hour after we ordered our food, enjoy their lunch, and get great service. We waited another 30 minutes then went up the bar while the bartender oh so obviously ignored us to tell them to box our food so we could leave and bring it to their attention that that we have been waiting while everyone else got to eat (I had a starving 5 year old.) They could have literally cared less and threw kind of a fit when we asked for our order to go in boxes instead of on a plate. Now the food is good. It's actually delicious, and yes, times are hard, and some places struggle to staff, and that's why service is slow. Unfortunately, this is NOT the case for Ruby's. It was very apparent that we were not wanted there, and they did what was done on purpose. Not just to us but other patrons, as well as we did see other reviews. (This is embarrassing as we are not out-of-towners. We live 5 miles away from the restaurant. My deepest apologies for the folks who were treated in such a screwed up way. We are not all like that. I highly recommend you drive to Adair IA about 15 more mins West of Stuart to The Chuckwagon restaurant. They are a fantastic group of people with even better food and a much better atmosphere.) Ruby's will never get another cent out of us. Don't waste your...
Read moreGreat little pub. Stopped by during a day trip from Des Moines. Very nice people and the service was excellent. My wife and I had the BLT and wings. Both were really good. Thick sliced bacon on a perfect BLT. The Honey Siracha wing sauce was dynamite. Loved it. Several other wing sauces as well. Had a good laugh from the chalk board post they had (attached a pic). A very welcoming vibe. We love supporting small, locally owned businesses and we will definitely eat here again the next time we are in town. Highly recommend if you are...
Read moreFantastic place. Had the tenderloin and it was probably one of the best I've ever had. They make them in-house, it's not just the frozen pucks. Well worth the trip and price.
The only downside I had (and the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5) is that the table we were sitting at was extremely sticky. We had to put napkins on it under where our arms were just to make it usable. Even when taking the napkins off, some of them or parts of them actually got stuck on the table.
Other than that though this place knocked it out...
