On 11-24-2013, my family and I enjoyed a memorable evening at The Lotus Blossom Chinese Restaurant in Sudbury, Massachusetts. The moment we entered the restaurant, we experienced a warm hospitable environment with smiling faces and sincere conversation from staff. We were escorted to our table by Toby Seto, one of the proprietors. Then we were greeted by Shawn, asking us for our drink order and introducing us to our waiter, Jen. Jen was very observant and attentive. Never had to ask for a drink refill. Surprisingly, I looked to my drink and discovered it had been refreshed without my noticing. Jen was always ready to explain or answer questions or assist in selecting from the menu. Far and away one of the very few waiters I have experienced absolute quality and complete excellence in performing his job description and responsibly. Toby, the proprietor I mentioned earlier came by several times. He simply spoke to us, giving us the opportunity to provide feedback. What a clever way of demonstrating his concern for his guest's satisfaction. In speaking with Toby, I asked about the Chef. The head chef's name is Wesley Chen. Toby mentioned he is a young man who has had the privilege of appearing on "Celebrity Chef"! That statement alone testifies to what my family experienced in quality, presentation, texture and flavor. Amazing! Toby is just one of the two proprietors at the restaurant last night. The other is Maurice. My take on the positioning and attention we got from Maurice is he and Toby make their rounds, having friendly conversation with their guest. Maurice is very courteous and genuine. When you visit, ask for Toby or Maurice and compliment them on their achievement. Congratulations from the Leasure Family to the staff in the kitchen and the attendants and servers in the dining room for your roll in creating such an elegant, flawless...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePros: Atmosphere, and cleanliness! My kids love this place, we did too until last week. The manager lady and a teen customer service kiddo were excellent.
Cons: Well, will limit just to terrible service.
Waitress was unbelievably provoking. āāTwas my husbandās birthday. We jumped to order appetizers, entree and drink all at once because we were starving. I am a vegetarian and ordered schezwan tofu on the waitressās suggestion, it was outright inedible. My husband ordered Coors light. She brought Budlight. When asked the waitress was like, āso what?ā My son wanted to surprise my husband and went to her and asked for a birthday dessert with candle, waitress refused but the manager jumped in to correct her. Finally when we started singing the birthday song, the waitress brought the bill in front of our camera and decided to stay until my husband signed it (thatās fine if she pretended to smile at the very least!) She then made sure of the tip all smack in front of the camera and bend over again to talk. The bill was $160 for the 4 of us. She perhaps is not used to dealing with a private family birthday dinner? The worst is yet to come, she was clanging the cutlery and cleaning our table during the birthday song! Letās give her the benefit of doubt about culture and ethics, but a waitress not knowing to correct the order, fill up empty water glass, asking how everything is.. is basics in any country and language. We came home laughing however so amazed by her odd behavior. We tried to find a silver lining so we donāt embed this about 2023 birthday memory! We will go back but ask for a different waiter/waitress if they assign her again....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went last night for the first time and it was a huge disappointment. The sushi was very good but the service was inexcusably bad. It took us two hours to have dinner and we had three kids with us. We arrived at 5:25 and there were only two other groups eating there.
Where do I start? They didn't say hello or get our drink orders for 20 min. The food didn't come until we had been sitting there for over an hour. The kids got so hungry they went to the car to get granola bars. My son's drink took 15 min to come. It was pretty much a fancy soda. The other kids wanted a drink as well and I had to wave/call to the server (no answer), find her and say "we would like to order..." (she said she would be back in a minute and didn't come), ask the person at the front of the house if I can just order from him (no), and then she came over without acknowledging how long we waited. The kids were still hungry so we wanted to order more maki and since it took forever to find her and order. It delayed everything another 45 min.
To their credit, the sushi was excellent and the kids loved the minty lychee soda. Maybe there are so many positive reviews since most people take out??
I wish it had been a better experience. I really wanted to like them! I'll go back to Fugakayu next time we want sushi. Their food is also good and their service...
