I visited Decoys on Saturday Feb 15, for my daughter’s birthday / content celebration. 3 weeks prior I contacted Decoys at least once a week letting them know it would be a party of around 18 people. I also spoke to them about renting the upstairs . They stated if I rented the upstairs the menu would have to be set with pre choices. I knew that option would not fit for us. They stated reservations are not accepted but to come early for accommodation. Two days before the celebration I reached out once again and asked about the upstairs they stayed if they did not have a party going on upstairs we could use it otherwise we would be seated else where. When I arrived to decoys an hour early. I was greeted by the host . She seemed very unclear of the request I was referring to and told me something completely different. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager approached the hostess table and informed me they did have my info down and was ready to accommodate us at a table downstairs. I advised that I was told if there was not a party upstairs we could be seated there. The manager was very nice and provided great customer service. He proposed that if I pay a $100 non refundable deposit then we could be seated upstairs. That rubbed be the wrong way because that was never mentioned (not even on the website). Now I’m feeling as if he is trying to get a few extra coins out of me.I simply stated that is not an option because this was never mentioned. If it was mentioned previously 3 weeks before I would’ve planned for that option. He then showed me where we would be sitting initially, and if we wanted to be placed upstairs he would have to consult with his general manager. I informed the manager that I no longer had 18 people but 23.Mr. Walter the general manager came back to speak with me. He informed me he could seat us upstairs but there would be only 1 server. And to work with them I was fine with that. We were seated 30 minutes later. The waiter we had was amazing. His name was Kemauri. He provided great customer service. The issue we had with the food taking over 2 hours to come out was beyond he control. After the long wait time for the food you have thought the The general manager Walter would have checked in and apologized or something. Kemauri brought our drinks out by himself he kept checking in with us!! We didn’t get our checks until 45 minutes after asking. Once again no fault to the waiter the RECEIPT MACHINE WAS DELAYED HIGHLY! The manager saw us getting impatient didn’t say a word just walked around the restaurant speaking to his other” friends that were patrons “. (I’m not even going to dive into my goddaughter having an allergic reaction onsite). I wrote all of this to say the food was not up to par at all (sorry Yummo) and the general manager Walter did not show and ounce of customer service skills let alone empathy and concern to get the job completed. KEMAURI SHOULD GET A RAISE; ONE OF...

The service was ok (there is room for improvement on a marketing perspective), the restaurant was aesthetically nice, it's just a bit pricey for some of their items, although they did taste SUPER FRESH, like they were just caught from the ocean, in which that case I'd understand the price. I had the Oysters Rockefeller which is the ONLY reason why we decided on this restaurant. It was my birthday weekend and I really wanted Oysters Rockefeller (last time I had them was at a Hotel/Casino restaurant in Laughlin,NV 18 years ago). I was so antsy, I forgot to snap a photo of them.... but let me tell you, it was with good reason- they were heaven. It was raining shortly after we arrived which meant the outdoor diners had to transfer their dining indoors... but even before that happened, we were specifically only offered a seat at a cocktail table snuggly staged beneath a stairwell near the bar. I admit it was a little cozy, but at the same time I felt uncomfortable sitting there. Maybe they couldn't offer a better seat because they do, in fact, encourage reservations (but not required) and only had so much available. BUT as we approached the entrance, there was a sign saying something about reservations- so we stood there reading the whole sign as a family exits the restaurant and makes their way down the steps past us. The father says to us, " you don't need a reservation, go on in- they're not even busy." Idk what it looks like in the upper level as far as available seating, but it would've been nice to have been offered something with a better view.
I would definitely return solely for the oysters Rockefeller, but I feel like I can't give a fair review without ordering more variety from the menu. We ended up going out to Rallys later in the evening. 🤷 Don't worry, Decoy's ....I'll be back to see if I can find...
Read moreWe had made reservations and the restaurant was not full. We got there a few minutes before 6:00. Were seated promptly. It was nowhere to sit where the sun wasn't in your eyes inside and it was almost 90 outside so of course we wanted to be in. So we were told if we set in this one place it would be about 10 minutes before a server came. We chose that due to the sun but it was still hot coming in and they said the AC was up as high as it would go. But the fact that they kept going in and out the door to serve the poor people that chose outside made it hot! And by the end of our meal there were quite a bit of flies inside. . . I wish that had been the only negative thing. Unfortunately we did not receive our food until an hour and a half 7:30! We did not order appetizers so we weren't waiting for them before the food came out , and we ordered as soon as our drinks were set down . We asked if there were a lot of to go orders, The waiter said no there weren't any and the restaurant was far from being full. Maybe half at the most. It was July 4th. Of course we inquired several times to our waiter, who was very nice, but he just kept saying it shouldn't be too long. We don't have any complaints of him but I felt bad for him having to serve tables that took so long to get food out. We didn't order anything that seem like it would have been difficult to make. I only had a house salad and soup which was not very hot. It was like barely warm but at that point I wasn't going to send it back as I was starving. The soup tasted great and the salad was fine and the other ladies salad was good and that's all they got. My husband and the other man got fish and french fries and shrimp and grits. And anyway, having to wait an hour and a half for food is unacceptable. I don't know that we'll be back. It's a beautiful place. I know the owner owns vintage tavern and we've never had a bad experience there and go there quite often. Perhaps trying to mix inside and outside dining on a 90° day is not a good idea and I know that everyone's hurting for people but I don't know that we'll be back. The outside is nice if you can eat and enjoy the deck. But the inside was hot, buggy, and being hot and hungry is not a good setup for food not being brought out in reasonable amount of time. . . I hope you guys can step it up or I don't see how you will be able to remain open. We weren't the only ones that were hot. The lady across from us sitting with no sun on her was...
