I ordered from Cilantro’s twice. The first time, it was a succulent Mexican dinner, filled with large pieces of meat and prepared REALLY REALLY well. Flash forward to the second visit: I walk into the store to pick up my online order and I’m greeted by 10 teenagers, all with the same haircut, all standing behind the counter. At first, I was frightened by the flock of seagulls but after receiving my to-go order I was much more terrified as an Indian gentleman lurched behind the counter, staring me down with a vicious look in his eye and clenching his fists, which I’m assuming is because I didn’t tip on a PICK-UP order 👀… so I said thank you and left. I returned home, anticipating my dinner, only to find that my asada burrito was missing steak in half of the burrito AND the carnitas tacos, that previously were adorned with chunks of delicious pork, were now small, straggly, pieces of carnitas wrapped in a greasy tortilla. Do yourself a favor and make your own tacos at home. I gave 2 stars because it was absolutely delicious on their opening weekend but it appears the quality fell off REAL FAST. Very disappointed.
Edit: LMAO at all the fake 5 star...
Read moreHaving recently moved from the Chicago area—where great Mexican food is everywhere—I’ve had a hard time finding local spots that hit the mark. So when I heard Cilantro was opening in Sugar Grove, I was excited to give it a try.
I first visited during their soft opening, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much since those first weekends can be chaotic. But Cilantro surprised me. They were fully staffed (many from the neighborhood), service was smooth, and the food was delicious. Everything felt well-run and upbeat.
Since then, I’ve been back several times. While no place is perfect, Cilantro is consistently very good. The burritos are flavorful and satisfying, and my wife absolutely loved the chile rellenos. It’s quickly becoming our go-to spot for Mexican food.
If you’re in the area, definitely give Cilantro a try. It’s a great addition to the neighborhood—and I’m excited to see how they...
Read moreOk who's idea was it to have 2 children run this establishment? I called 3 times. The girl placed me on hold for a good 7 minutes, I could hear her take orders for people walking in. She waited for people to come in and took the order for 4 people before she returned to my call. I arrived almost 20 later to get my food. Only to find out she had not even put in my order yet. I asked her why she had not placed my order yet. She smiled at me with a goofy smirk and then turned her body to ger buddy and asked her to make a few alcoholic drinks because she had forgotten to put the order in for those drinks. I hope management reads this and takes the time to re train...
