The Vault on Main — Restaurant in Summersville

Spit balls! They knew this review was coming. My husband and I made reservations well in advance, when we arrived I noticed there was one table with a reservation sign. That was not our table apparently. The host and only adult in the restaurant grabbed the menus and took us to the first available seat. The seat was right by the front door blowing in cold air , right across from the kitchen and right next to a pillar. We came here for the food and because the pictures looked really cool. Sitting in front of a pillar you couldn’t see anything. With our apparent lost reservation and poor seating choice, we decided the evening wasn’t going so well and we were going to skip expensive drinks and appetizers. While our meal was very good, other than my husbands steak being served rare, our server was attentive as well. When we were finishing up our meal, we noticed something falling and hit our table. It was a freaking spitball, that landed 2 inches from our food! Of course I notified the host right away. Instead of a manager coming out and handling the situation she made our server go up and tell a group of teenagers to knock it off. She even mentioned that one of the boys was a staff member! Within a few minutes, another one flew down! Disgusting!!! Speaking of staff, where were they? The host and the person cooking the food was the only adults in the restaurant While we were waiting on our food or lack there of, no bread basket, salad, or anything like that. We noticed several staff members waitresses I’m assuming walking into the restaurant and going back to the kitchen. There seemed to be a high school dance going on. Maybe they were off for that reason. The host came over and cleaned our table, but never once did a manager come out. Our waitress was very apologetic and gave us a 15% discount. So we visit West Virginia every year for our anniversary. We found this place online and decided to give it a try. Reviews were pretty solid so we went. Well I can safely say this is one of the worst “restaurants” I’ve ever been to. For starters the chef walked out the door at 7:40 right in the middle of dinner service, a bad sign of things to come. Next we had to wait about an hour for our “meal”. I ordered the chicken piccata and my wife ordered the Parmesan crusted salmon. After waiting an hour she proceeded to put down my chicken which was tiny, flavorless and had zero sauce on it. And by zero I mean ZERO!!! They were charging $28 for a tiny piece of chicken and pasta that was basically water. My wife’s salmon was also tiny, greasy and was missing the risotto. Instead it was covered in vegetables and the tail end of the salmon. Did I mention we waited an hour? The waitress also let us know there was a printer problem and she would discount our food. Problem is there was no printer to be found so that was a bold face lie. The table was spinning and we were so close to other diners we could hear them breathing. I took one bite and we walked right out the door never to return. I would never recommend this place to ANYONE! Maybe if you want a burger? Hard to screw that up. Horrible experience on our anniversary. ZERO...

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! We loved the decor and ambience, but most of the meal and service were poor. We were in Summersville for family business and found their website and expected a very good experience. However, service was extremely slow, tough there was only one other table seated. The caprese appetizer was excellent. However, the chicken wrap was very dry and watery; it seemed they gave us "leftover " chicken, and tried to moisten it with excess water. The Philly cheesecake was equally poor. The amount of steak was very small and very dry. There was no mushrooms, which greatly effects the flavor. The server was extremely slow to check on us and when we told her one of the ingredients "mushrooms" wasn't included, she said she would check with the kitchen to see if they could prepare some; the sandwich was already cold, so we declined. While she was still at the table, she stated that the other table had ordered a cheesesteak sandwich without mushrooms, so they must have gotten them mixed up. The fries were fresh cut, but only 3/4 done; so "limp." An $88 tab for a bad experience; definitely not...
