This had been my favorite bakery since elementary school, I used to come in every morning before school with my mom, and now on Saturdays my kids ask for these donuts. To be clear the donuts are AMAZING....but only when you can get what you came in for I guess. Today I decided I needed a donut for breakfast; my daughter and I are huge fans of their sugar twists; she just recently accepted eating plain glazed when we went in a few months back and were told we "came in too late for those ones, someone bought them all before 9:30"....and we have settled EVERY week since for a second or third choice. But when I go in within an hour of opening and am told I waited too long to get what I used my time and gas and am willing to spend my money on...I get peeved. So I skipped last weekend...this morning I walk in, no one up front and surprise surprise....no sugar twists, womp womp. I shouldn't have to be awake at the first light of dawn to get one kind of donut, if you know people (I'd assume the same people) are buying whole trays of these....make more of them, don't tell the customers to show up sooner. After 20 years I think I'll stop wasting my gas and time and just go to a bakery that I know has them. Its a shame tho, these are the best donuts for miles, just not worth the gas and time just to been disappointed every time and see my kids disappointed too.
UPDATE its been a bit since my original review, I tried again on THREE seperate WEEKDAYS and before 10am....none, again. Won't stop by or call ever again. This just marked the end of my childhood entirely and my kids just lost a tradition. There are no other good bakeries in Belleville, so I guess since this place has gone downhill so bad on supply and demand AND customer service, we have to just find a new breakfast treat to have family time over. This is a serious disappointment to my whole family...dozens of us have gone for years and collectively after my call this morning decided not to anymore...I literally had to call to ask if there were any left at 10am and got told no..I called Because I've used quite enough gas getting told no and seeing the kids...
Read moreI came in this morning to see if I can grab my kiddos a couple of donuts. From the moment I came in the lady had an ill attitude. I tried to be cheery and hopes that I could make her day a little brighter, but as I started to ask for certain donuts, she was just grabbing some off of a random tray that was open behind her backside that just had a couple of miscellaneous donuts on it. They didn’t appear to be fresh. I had asked her if I could please have a cinnamon roll from the case where it’s covered because I have sensitivity to foods and she had a big attitude saying that those had just come out which they for sure did not because you could tell. Because of that I told her that I will kindly be passing on the donuts, that respectfully If I’m going to pay for the food that I’m going to consume, I’m not sure why it’s such a big deal that I can’t have a doughnut that was not sitting out in the open where flies and other Dust and bacteria can lay on it instead of being Covered in the case. I’m assuming it’s because they were the leftover ones from yesterday but who knows. As soon as I told her she made it clear she could care less. I also called them a couple of days ago asking if they had pumpkin donuts and they said they only do it once a year for one month. I kind of joked around with them and I was like “would you ever consider starting a little early? I’ll bring you business every day!” and I was trying to laugh around, and I was very kind and playful. They had the biggest attitude and were very unkind. I’m assuming it’s the same person. Safe to say, I will not be supporting our local bakery. They wonder why their business is going down.. they should take a look at themselves and how they treat their customers. I pray things get Better in their personal life because they’re definitely bringing it to work. Wish I could support This local business, but I can’t bring...
Read more9/6/23: Came here a week ago in the early morning for some donuts. Got a bunch of other things as well. All the donuts tasted great. I think some of them actually had fruit in them somehow. For the cookies, the chocolate chip was kinda mid(needs richer chocolate), the oatmeal raisin was good, but the ginger and snickerdoodle were exceptional. Of the slices, I didn't care for the pina colada one; I'd say I like contrasting taste in my cheesecake toppings, and this one didn't do it for me. The cherry(?) cheesecake, banana cream mini-pie, and the pecan mini-pie were really good.
Service was exceptional. Sheryl(?; the older lady, I can't remember the name exactly) gave wonderful service. She also makes the donuts, or so I've been told. Really makes you feel at home for my first time being at the shop, and I appreciate the small talk =03.
Place looks a bit dated, but the place looked pretty clean in general. I can't say I'm fond of most of the food being in an open-back cabinet(but many donut places have either open-back cabinets, or an open-in-front, so shrug). Those are small quibbles though, and had a great experience. I'll surely be back to try some of their other treats(though going down the dark backroads to get here at 6AM in the morning is...
