This was my second visit to this restaurant and will be my last. I order chicken on a stick, scallops (nasty imitation crab meat), three shrimp egg rolls, and honey wings and shrimp fried rice for my nephew. As he was eating the wings, he said: "These wings taste plain". I called the restaurant and asked why the wings were made plain when I order honey wings. The Asian woman, who is most likely the owner, comes to the phone suggesting that she asked me (the paying customer) three times whether I wanted plain wings.
She was totally confident that she remembered asking me "three times" whether I wanted plain wings when I clearly stated I wanted "honey wings". Crazy!
Problematically, this Asian owner's response to an error in my order is just as offensive as her failure to learn English for "her business". I hung the phone on her because it was obvious that she doesn't understand English. There are two American employees, who are fluent in English. They should be the ones taking orders. This restaurant will not earn...
Read moreEureka! We have tried many places around our humble abode in Sumter, but so far this has provided the best tasting Chinese (American) food yet. We ordered your average Beef & Broccoli and General Tso’s combinations. Both main dishes were properly sauced and not overfried. The combinations came with ham fried rice and an egg roll. The rice is that “good good,” where they use the ham spare rib and make it really eggy with lots of veggies. The egg roll had quite a sizeable girth in terms of egg rolls, and wasn’t dried out, like most. We also got small egg drop and hot-sour soups. My husband admired his “large chunks of tofu” in his hot and sour, but apparently, that’s how he prefers it. My egg drop was delish. It was your usual, but done correctly. Some of the other places in Sumter like to put the whole salt lick in the pot or make it a strange hue of yellow-orange, but not China Chef.
Needless to say, we’ve found our spot for typical, yet delicious Chinese American...
Read moreVery seldom do I ever leave reviews but my experience was so poor I have been left with no other choice. My family and I visited the restaurant this evening after reading positive reviews. Service and restaurant were ok. Nothing to rave about.
The food on the other hand was TERRIBLE. Never in my life do I ever recall eating something that my body almost immediately tried to expel. I ordered the peppered steak with white rice and my wife had gotten some chicken fried rice for one of my daughters.
My steak was bland, flavorless and was quickly killing my appetite. My daughter did not like the appearance of her chicken fried rice so I gave her my white rice. The chicken in the fried rice was as white as my rice. Not appealing in the least. I ate around it. Not even ten minutes into eating I had to step outside as I felt the urge to throw up.
I would not recommend this place to anyone with...
