I recently had the pleasure of dining at Desi Dhaba on North Mary Ave in Sunnyvale, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere set the stage for an incredible meal.

The food was absolutely outstanding — rich, flavorful, and truly authentic. Each dish felt like a comforting, homemade meal, packed with traditional spices and cooked to perfection. The butter chicken was creamy and tender, the biryani was aromatic and packed with layers of flavor, and the freshly made naan was soft and warm, perfect for scooping up every last bit of sauce.

Beyond the food, the service was excellent. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about ensuring a great dining experience. It felt less like a restaurant visit and more like being welcomed into someone’s home for a feast.

Their Dal Makhani is a standout, prepared without the usual heavy cream but still rich and flavorful, delivering a perfect balance of spices and tenderness. The true highlight, though, is their Gulab Jamun — it’s absolutely divine. Warm, perfectly soaked in syrup, and just the right amount of sweetness. Was excited to try this place given it's so close and given our extended family used to go to little india Cafe regularly for years. The food was sooo salty, especially the bhindi. My husband will eat anything and couldn't eat it. Rest of the food was forgettable other than being too salty. Only reason for 2 stars and not one is because the curries come with rice even though this isn't indicated on their menu.
