This little road side jewel is very unassuming when you drive in to park. When I walked in the doors to the bright traditional Mexican decor, I immediately had a serotonin dump, it isn’t high end, but just enough.
What to expect: Taqueria Lupitas is a small family owned casual dining authentic Mexican food eatery. This is NOT fast food, although I received my food in 15 minutes. This area is close to other little mountain towns and neat little offshoots to explore if you are in a road trip. I stayed at the Crater Lake Inn and was recommended this little delicious morsel of a place.
About the food: I ordered 3 Sopes, 1 carna asada and two marinated pork. Both choices were very well made. The Sope itself was lightly crisp on the outside and very soft and moist on the inside. Their flavors for each meat were very well done. The carna asada was juicy and not too salty, the pork was my favorite. The pork had excellent flavors and melted in my mouth. I also ordered 2 queso Birria tacos… because “when in Rome”…. The Tacos’s seemed to be made I house, very crispy and the Birria was very juicy. I washed it all down with a tall glass of horchata. This food and atmosphere is was very enjoyable.
This little highway diner is definitely a great place to stop in and get food and enjoy a pretty happy atmosphere.
The Typical Tourist would enjoy the food and atmosphere as well as the value for what you get. Try a Sope if you’ve never tried one, it is the dish I judge all Mexican food by if it be...
Read moreMy Coworker and I were on a 15 hour drive and needed a place to eat some lunch. Since there was not much to choose from and this place having 4.5 stars we thought we would give it a try.
As soon as we walked in, we were hit with a very odd smell, it almost made us walk out, but we still decided to sit down and give it try, lol.
It was definitely one of those very small town types of places where it seems everyone knows everyone else, nothing wrong with that, but they customer across from us, kept asking waitress and another person, if they knew of someone who would be interested in steal scrap he had on his property, lol.
The food was not very good, the chips and salsa was bland and underwhelming, as was the fajitas. In fact the food, along our route was so bad, we decided not to go back the same way, on...
Read moreFound this place on Google and SO glad we stopped in for lunch! The food did not disappoint. Even my partner, who lived in San Diego for over 10 years where it has endless delicious Mexican food, agreed that it was a good Mexican spot (not THE best, but it was good!).
My partner got the pork sope, and he thought the pork was flavourful and the masa cake was nicely fried! I got the asada tacos- wow! So flavourful, nicely crisp and fresh! We also loved their home made chili oil- good flavourful and nice level of spice, a little more than medium.
Our waiter was nice and quick to serve us. Food came out quick as well! The ambiance of the place was vibrant with the colourful decors. It is a little old, but it was still comfortable being...
