Stopped in today (31 October 2021) for the first time, and got a friendly greeting from Sarah. I've never been to a Moore's before and she (as well as her coworker, a friendly young man in his early 20s) both happily explained the menu to me. I ordered the crab cake platter, the chicken and pulled pork combo, with hush puppies, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, and mashed potatoes with gravy- and banana pudding and a brownie for dessert. Sarah even double-checked my to-go bag and realized I was not given the banana pudding I had ordered, and made sure I had extra lemons for my crab cakes (per my request)! The food was pretty stellar- the crab cakes were full of crab, not fillers, the pulled pork was lightly dipped in vinegar-based BBQ sauce (that was not over-powering), the hush-puppies (7 in each platter) were finger-shaped which I personally love (extra crunch!), and the sides were great except for the potato salad. But that's a personal preference, I don’t care for relish and sweet peppers in mine. For "fast food" they were indeed fast, I recieved my to-go in about 7 minutes ordering in-store, and everything tasted fresh. The restaurant was clean, hand sanitizer was at each check-out counter for customers, all employees had on masks (and wore them properly, OVER their noses), and there's a big sink right in the dining area to wash up after you've eaten a delicious BBQ meal without having to go use the restroom. Sometimes it's the little things... But the employee's attitudes that were the icing on the cake. I read other reviews that complained about the employees, but that was not my experience at all. Granted, I'm from up North, but I'm also a USAF Retiree and have been stationed all over the States and overseas. I was greeted with a friendly smile from all the staff working around 1045 on Sunday, 31 Oct, wasn't dismissed or given a dirty look or smart-a$$ reply when I asked questions like what exactly a "BBQ plate" consisted of... I hope a manager is able to view this review and give their employees a "kuddos". Obviously, I will be...
Read moreWe came in with guest on Sunday June 13,2020 Always loved this place and staff ! My daughter worked for David as a young girl and Jason as manager at Smithfield. My family knows Tommy for years so we love love this place! We each told the order taker individual what we wanted as we took turns. We sat at a table with our 5 drinks and they only gave us 4 meals. We ordered 5 meals one of which came with the drink we had. We told the you blonde teenage girl we were missing a meal and she said ok and we back to the kitchen in the meantime the other 4 were almost finish eating when she came back to ask for the receipt. We thought she was getting us the meal then came Said you messed your order up. We told her we didn’t you gave us a drink with no meal. I asked for cocktail sauce they never brought. Potato salad potato's were not even cooked, I talked Jared the manager and he informed me he was told the order was given wrong. I told him we stood next to each other and heard then order. It was the cashier. He said well I’m sorry about the potato’s we are having a hard time with getting them right. Then said oh and yeah I’m sorry about the girls behavior. I think Tommy & David need to check into this manager and employees if they are running a restaurant here and want a family friendly and customer service restaurant. All their others locations are excellent but save your money in Swansboro and go...
Read moreI'm a BBQ Junkie, and a local to eastern NC. I like BBQ, and I like this Moores, it's a great resturant with good food, but if you've ever been to a Smithfields, this is basically a carbon copy of thier bbq, which isnt bad dont get me wrong. It just doesnt do justice to real East NC BBQ. I do think it's a little better here because they have a sweeter, finer slaw. But they're fries are the same and their decor is the same etc etc. They do have a more expansive menu tho, they have shrimp, fish, Bone in Chicken, chicken sandwhich, crab cakes, fish, some days they have ribs, plenty of sides etc etc. I grew up going to the old family owned Moores in New Bern. These new restaurants seem more commercialized. But they're always nice, and they're very clean. And it seems to be doing well for them because they're opening up new locations left and right. And everything I've had has been tasty. They also have specials and a text club which sends you coupons and deals. Youll enjoy what you order here. I will say if you're looking for real East NC BBQ take a little drive to Sam Jones BBQ. But If you dont feel like the drive this place will fill the void. If your not into BBQ, then They're chicken and shrimp Burger and pretty nice. Shrimp Brurger combo is $9 with fries and a drink. BBQ Sandwhich Combo is $8. Kids Meals are $5. Combo Plates are around $10 or more. Prices are decent....
