After further research, it turns out that the individual in my review below is in fact the OWNER of the café! Did not expect to see this type of attitude from an owner of an establishment. Will not be returning. Very disheartening as another small business will probably last a year because of poor management. Sad...
I hate to be the first to give a negative review of this place, but the customer service I experienced this morning was terrible right from the start. I arrived about 5:25 am knowing full well of the time they open (5:30 am). I sat in my truck waiting patiently for them to unlock the doors to allow customers into the establishment. However, the individual mopping the floors this morning must have taken offense to me sitting in their parking lot, in my truck for all of 2 minutes. This person came to the door and asked "Can I help you? What do you want?" I responded with "I'm just waiting for you all to open." I guess this irritated her and as she slammed the main door and broke the handle. HAHAHAHAHA!! It's a shame because I really did enjoy this place. The afternoon staff is excellent (which is why I gave this review 2 stars instead of just one). A word of advice to Ms. LaJoy... customer service is, and always will be #1 with any business. If your staff is not on board, your business will struggle. I do NOT want this for this establishment as it really is a wonderful place. One person is all it takes to ruin a good thing. Unfortunately, this person ruined my experience with this café....
Read moreI stopped by LAJOY at their grand opening this morning. This is 100% a family business! The owner, LaJoy herself, was out greeting the customers and let us know that she ran the cafe with her kids. I did not have to wait long for my pastry once my order was placed. The coffee order took a little longer than I expected, but things were busy for the grand opening, and the owner personally apologised for the wait. I just drink hot drip coffee, and enjoyed that the coffee here wasn't as crazy strong as other shops make it. It tasted great and was not too acidic to cause any stomach issues. If you ever are in the area, check this place out in the heart of Overland. This shop is exactly what the residents of Overland needed. I plan on frequenting the shop for coffee plenty in the future. They already have a rewards app up and running! There were dog treats at the counter and water bowls by the tables outside for pups, so it looks like dogs are more than welcome to hang out with their humans when...
Read moreWe are visiting the area and decided to stop in for a quick coffee and the gooey danish. We ordered a caramel macchiato, the danish, and a hashbrown. No pastries were available other than a couple of muffins and no hashbrown either. The barista was super short in her responses to us. She seemed annoyed and rushed, and there weren't many customers. The coffee was possibly the worst we've had, and we frequent coffee shops. After tasting it in the car, we aren't even sure that the espresso machine was actually used. We were talking, but we didn't recall hearing it, and they are pretty loud. The "coffee" is like drinking sweet milk, with not even a hint of coffee flavor in it. The shop had plenty of seating and was cute, but I wouldn't recommend this...
