El Rancho Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Talihina

My wife and I are having our 30th anniversary today. We heard from a couple of friends about this place, and that the food is good, so we've been wanting to give it a try. We live about 23 miles from the restaurant toward Wilburton just off Hwy 2. So we thought today we should hop in our old Chevelle, and take a nice country drive to Talihina and have lunch/ dinner at El Rancho. We are really glad we did. The food was very good as was the service. we moved to this area from the west coast a couple of years ago, and haven't been overly thrilled with any of the Mexican restaurants we've tried in this area, (within about a 50 mile radius). I personally love the food. A friend has issues almost every time. Last time I was there with a big group, it was hard to get service, but it's rare. On another note, I don't understand why the shrimp in shrimp quesadilla aren't cut in half, at least. It would save money & be way easier to eat. Just a peeve lol Update; 4/18/25 mushroom quesdailla with added shrimp is soggy on the bottom and despite asking for shrimp to be cut up was still whole inside quesadilla which makes it hard to eat. I come from the Land of Enchantment (New Mexico) and I have to be honest this Mexican food restaurant here in the little town of Talihina Oklahoma blows away all the Mexican dishes I can remember from my hometown!

My personal favorite is their chicken fajita's with corn tortilla's and a side of their chunky Mexican guacamole. They load me up with lemons without hesitation. Their tea is the way it should be - FRESH. Their servings are so big I get to take some home and enjoy the leftovers for the following day. I used to live over 30 minutes away and it was well worth the drive, now I live much closer and can enjoy this awesome food on a regular basis. Yay for me! I REALLY recommend...
