Their menu is divided into sections, and Patty Melts are listed in the Burger section with a side for $7.50. At the bottom of that section it says "Burgers without a side is $5". I ordered it without a side. When I go to pay, I asked her to see what I was being charged for because the bill was more than expected. She then looks at my daughter and says "oh, you had a water instead of a coke right?" And then shows me the rest of the bill and that I was charged $7.50 for my meal. I told her mine was $5 without a side and she says that the manager/owner has her do it that way because Patty Melts are not burgers.. What?? Then why is it listed under "Burgers".. We are not from here, but come here 4 times or more a year for medical visits, and we ALWAYS stop at Pam's Diner. It's our ritual. We have never been let down there, but decided to give this place a try because it said they have "the best burgers in town". NEVER going back. The California burger came with Avocado slices on top instead of guacamole as stated on the menu. Their soda was horrible. The fries were burnt in which she is a fry fanatic, but didn't finish.. so she had 5 bites of her burger and a few fries for $9. I was still hungry from my Patty Melt, so I ate her fries but can honestly say they were the worst fries I have ever eaten. NEVER EVER AGAIN. And since the owner likes to use the "I saw on camera..." line, then she/he will post the shot of the plate as it arrived with burnt fries, my daughter opening up the Burger to show me that it wasn't guacamole, her taking a drink of the soda and asking for water instead, and the leftover burger she left on the plate at the table. AND the cook coming into the seating area to sit down at a table and hollering across the restaurant to her down syndrome child "let's go.. let's go.. let's go.." multiple times and then getting frustrated and eventually walking across the room to finally help walk her out. Very awkward and unpleasant experience. Oh, and bring cash because they have a "note" laying on top of the counter that they charge 2.8% for using a card!! It's not a sign posted up, it was literally just laying on the counter at register. And they use the iPad type screen at checkout that makes you choose a tip starting at 15%. Just throwing that in there incase you have a...
Read moreI stopped here with some family on the way to a vacation trip, and it looked very appealing from the outside in a small town square such as Talihina. Multiple problems with the service and food. It was an unpleasant experience. They don't serve lemon with their water, only lime. My father-in-law ordered the Mushroom Burger and asked his grilled onions to be served dark and when his order came, they were raw and not even cooked. We approached the server about this and she replied, "That was the darkest we could make them." He continued to take them off the burger and told her that they were nowhere close, and in spite the server practically drops the other two plates she had left to deliver on the table, almost making my food fall off the plate. She did not come back to check up on us for the rest of the time we were there, no refills on water when our cups were empty. The actual burgers the family ordered made this a two star. They were great, besides the fact that they got some condiments wrong and even when they give you condiments, it's like a teaspoon. The fries were soggy; they only give you 3 (frozen) mozzarella sticks as a side when they give you a pile of fries, and they gave me ranch instead of marinara that I asked for. And finally through observing, the actual atmosphere is decent. Some parts of the building are very old and need refurbishing, especially the bathroom and the back part of the diner. It took 3 people to make one single shake for a girl at the counter, and 10 minutes at that. Overall it could've been a lot better for the name of Talihina, if only a few major things were fixed. We let the owner know as we left, and she replied with, "Thank you for letting me know, I'll make sure to look into it." Hopefully she takes that to heart!
Edit in response to the owner: So sorry to hear about the fire last year! I've edited out your server's name to respect your wishes. I understand it's all about cost, but maybe you can put the quantity of cheese sticks on your menu to warn the customer! There's still work to be done though and I wish you the best of luck with it! Remember one table can make a...
Read moreThe food was good, and the place was really quite cute. I didn’t see too many other good options, so we stopped in here for dinner after the Talimena Drive. If you come, make sure you have time. Nothing is done quickly or even with a smile. I was kind of shocked at the service since it is a small town mom and pop place and they are usually so good with their service. My husbands burger was supposed to have tomato, lettuce, and pickle but was served without it. So we had to flag down our waitress to get those things, at that time I also asked for ranch for my onion rings that never came. We had planned to stay for shakes as well but decided to find another place down the road for ice cream or shakes due to the poor service. If I had a couple of hours to kill, I think I would come again...
