Okay so I forgot to take pictures. So there is a story behind this. So get into this place reminds me of 6 Trunk Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. This small little quaint restaurant owned by African-Americans sits off to your right if you go on east on Martin Luther King Blvd. the first time I went there was on a Monday and I asked that was servicing me is the food good her quick response was oh you'll be back. So I ordered my food and when I got home with it, I wasn't impressed with the mac & cheese. it looked amazing, but it lacked flavors and it was dry. The meat that I bought was ribs and chicken. The ribs were tough, and the chicken was too dark. It was almost burnt, but was so mean was the collard greens, which is why I gave them a second chance I went Friday today is Saturday yesterday I went. The food was absolutely amazing. That was southern cooking barbecue style. The service was excellent. Everybody was friendly. I even bought a dessert a red velvet, sweet potato pie. It was OK. But the food was amazing. The collard greens all you need was a little hot sauce and it would definitely take you there. Nothing was salty. My total meal cost me about $70 because I had ribs for both dinners chicken on one and brisket on another collard greens, potato salad, macaroni and cheese and two of their specialty drinks. The meat, the collard greens and the potato salad was all on point. The macaroni and cheese looked absolutely delicious, but it did lack flavor again and it was dry so they may wanna work on that a little bit more but other than I would definitely be back and I am so grateful that I gave them...
Read moreDirty rice-3/5(undercooked rice, ok flavor, light smoke notes... doesn't really taste anything resembling dirty rice. Room for improvement, could better)
Brisket-1/5(way overcooked, dry, nice smoke but no flavor profile....bland. they normally serve this chopped, but from experience, good brisket most pit master want you to experience it sliced so that you can observe the work and love they put into it. While other pitmasters who may not be good at cooking brisket will chop it up and sauce it as to still have an item to sell, theres better brisket out there, this needs work.
Smoked Chicken- 3/5(good flavor, a lil dry, nice smoke. This good BBQ chicken, over cooked a lil bit the flavor is some of the better flavor smoked chicken that's out there.
Ribs-2/5( good smoke, needs more flavor, a lil overcooked. These ribs have potential, the need more flavor, and a better cook. The dry chew from the rib takes away from the smoke of the rib.
Sauces-3/5( the mustard sauce is awesome, strong yellow mustard presence, but with a sweet tang that pairs well with the pork/ ribs.....is the reason why I'll be able to eat the ribs. The red sauce taste like store bought sauce, nothing wrong with that but you like to see something original from bbq joint, but I could be wrong on the red sauce.
Pros-location, mustard sauce, quick service, chicken customer service
Cons- cook on all the meats,
I say give it a try and decide for yourself, my taste is my taste, but I pray they see this and look at those areas for...
Read moreI've ordered several times from this place. The first time, I was truly impressed! The ribs were thick, tasty, tender, and perfectly cooked. I ordered the double portion of ribs and got a huge serving, (7) bones. The sauce was delicious with just the right sweetness. My only criticism was the red velvet cake was super dry and lacked flavor. Second time I ordered for my entire family. I bragged about how the ribs were amazing. My daughter had the rib sandwich. The ribs (3) bones were tender and delicious and thick! My rib dinner had a couple of tender and flavorful pieces while the others were blackened and tough and I received a much smaller portion (5) bones even though I ordered a double portion. The chicken dinner was tasty but we received a really small wing and a child size thigh. I again ordered the red velvet cake but this time the cake was absolutely delicious! It was moist, fresh, and very flavorful. The third and fourth time, have ordered the exact same meal. The ribs were so thin and cooked until they were blackened and burned and dry, that you'd have to peel off the outer crunchy crust to get to any edible meat! The ribs were flavorless and the sauce was all spice and heat, no sweetness. The red velvet cake was OK but it was definitely oily. I have ordered on different days of the week because I like to give chances. But today was the last time I will waste my money ordering from this...
