I've been waiting on writing this review because I did not want to base my review based on first impression. However, I've returned to this clinic multiple times and consistently had the same experience. I understand there are other reviews with positive experiences, but the inconsistency alone is enough to find another clinic.
Summary: Front staff is disorganized and unprofessional, leading to billing or communication problems. If the staff doesn't know you, they are not caring/understanding. Staff and the lobby setup leads to confidentiality problems. The specialty doctor I had seemed uninterested at first, until I strongly advocated for myself. If you are looking for a staff and doctor who are thoroughly engaged with your health and practice professionalism and good customer service, this isn't the office for you.
The purpose of this review is to help others who need medical attention and who may be looking for something cost effective but still want quality care. If that sounds like you, please look up "sliding scale clinics near me" along with the specialty, and there will be plenty of other options to choose from. Make sure to check their reviews too - both on the doctors and clinics. But if you are insistent on staying with Tampa Family, the Westshore location is a good place to start (specifically the nurse practitioner, Amanda Fitch-Nagy at that location)
Full Review: At each visit, the front staff has consistently been disorganized at checking patients in, calling patients up and then asking them to sit down again. They're not sure who is who and when their appointment is, many people are working on the same thing, and have patients waiting by the desk to get checked in, not realizing that you had just walked in. They are not professional in the way they portray themselves. Because of the disorganization and lack of interest in their jobs or patients, multiple times they've forgotten to charge me and it has accumulated on my account, to where I had to spend more on a single visit than I had in the past.
The room is quiet, and even though they have a TV it does not play anything. Although this doesn't necessarily bother me, it does mean that your information is not kept confidential. It is easy for others to hear about what kind of visit you are there for, and your financial history. When speaking to the front staff, they don't seem very understanding or caring, especially if they don't know you. Although having to repeat the same statement about my finances and ability to pay, the front staff employee seemed short on patience and asked when I could pay the rest of the amount, and then I was finally able to pay; as stated previously, an amount that was more than my usual visit because of their disorganization. This is just one example of what could happen if you come here often and don't have a special relationship with the staff.
As for the doctor, she also seemed disinterested in my first visit or two, simply typing away at her computer and logging my symptoms, then haphazardly prescribing medication. But when I finally advocated for my health at a following visit and even brought notes along, she was more engaged and helpful. Although she was more helpful, I still found the case manager to be more caring.
(Dental and Pharmacy disclaimer: I haven't had any experience with their dental staff. And my interactions with the pharmacy staff have been professional, I haven't experienced any issues with them.)
I've been to many Tampa Family Health clinics, but the first clinic I tried that wasn't them immediately helped me miles more. They were much more understanding with regards to insurance and finance, and helped me get set up with a couple things - something that Tampa Family never did since my first visit regardless of the office location. If you're looking for other options, I recommend doing research as I...
Read moreOkay so I had a 10:45am appointment with Dr. Perez and didn't get seen until after 11:20am. Okay so they call my name to go to the back. Now I'm at the Tampa Family on Osborne which is not my regular one. Now I'm in the back the young lady has taken my pressure etc. So she goes to ask what was the reason for my visit. So now I'm naming them off she then goes to stop me and say oh well I can only put three main reasons of why you're here and I'm looking like what the heck I have NEVER EVER heard of such thing. So I'm like well dang now I'm thinking the things I need I'm not going to be able to do or be seen about I told her the "three main reasons". Now at this point I don't even want to be there anymore because if I have some major things going on that need to be addressed I can only be seen for three that's crazy. Okay so now I'm sitting in the room because I'm thinking the doctor is going to come in the room I'm in because that's what they do uh nope I have to go into another room where the doctor is sitting. So he listens to my breathing while sitting in the chair and not on the exam table why... okay now I'm pissed because why are you hearing my breathing while sitting in a visitor's chair and not the exam table. So he goes to speak with me about one of the "main three" reasons and tells me he want me to see this specialist okay then he goes to tell me the area okay cool. He then say he wants me to do blood work but that the lab want be open until Thursday whatttt... So at this point I'm like what ever I'm ready to go so he then tells me okie dokie hope you feel better so I say well what about the other 2 main reason why I'm here he say what I repeat what I said he goes oh yeah well I can write you this medicine do you want it in pill form or liquid at this point of the visit it doesn't even matter. So he goes and send in that one and says again well hope you feel better I tell him thanks get up and leave we never got to discuss the last two of the three. I will never go back to this location I don't care if it's a choice of this location or heaven then I'm going with my angels. I have never had to choose three reasons of why I was going to see the doctor and never had the doctor not know about all of why I was there. Now the two young ladies one at the front desk and the other young lady who took my pressure check my a1c etc. was fine but that was about it 🤷🏾♀️ . P.s the reason why I had to go to this location was when I called to make the appointment originally I was told they could NOT find a doctor at my main location which is located on Martin Luther King Jr across from St .Joseph Hospital why is that? And the one I go to it's cleaned from outside all the way to the inside the only time I seen any mess was in the ladies restroom. It always smell fresh and clean soon as you walk in which is a major...
Read moreThe people who works here are unprofessional, I have no idea why they have so many people working here and they take hours before been call by some one and waits another at least 35 minutes in the room for the nurse practioner and at least 45 minutes before to receive the paper work today I had to call the manager cause after 45 minutes in the waiting room I ask two times to one of the receptionist how many patients before me and all the time she said is one patient before you and after one hour and twenty minutes waiting I ask for the manager and there she said that in the sistem appear like they called me , but I know that was not true cause I was there all the time but when the women in the front desk heard that I need to talk with the manager they said that they all ready called me which was not true. After one of the witches who works for that clinic called me to one of the rooms the first thing that she said was that they don't have the test results from either the lab and the xrays, in other words they took 1 hours and 20 waisting my time instead to request the results, not only that , but the witch assistant nurse told me that she is going to let me in the room for a while to see if the doctor wants to see me, This people who works here Lose the time and have it lost our time, they works without desire to be there, you can see that they don't show passion or professionalism or dedication and they really think that is a favor that they are doing to the patients, like if they don't received any payment in exchange to don't do it nothing, but Scratch the wigs. If I'm going to be honest I will said at least don't choose this location. While I was writing this review I still was in the waiting room for over another hour since they called me to the back What a shame these people have what they feel like and there is no one who take control over them, A bunch of witches from the devil, people very evil in their...
