I was back in the "hood" and outside my "food zone" in my search for local neighborhood foods and soul foods. Today I found a deli that offers heavy laden cuban sandwiches at reasonable prices. My surprise discovery was boiled peanuts and neckbones.
The traditional cuban sandwich was pretty good, the price reasonable and filled with meat. There are additions to the sandwich that can be requested. It was a little heavy on the mustard. The peanuts and neck bones were a revelation. Very savory, well seasoned and the meat came easily off the bone. The peanuts were some of the best we ever had.
In this clean, bright and well attended market, the phone and smoking business reigns supreme. Word is that the prices and trade-ins business brings in the locals. The deli in the back offers sandwiches and an array of fried products like wings, eggrolls and empanadas. A massive array of products fill the store wall to wall and floor to ceiling. From hats and clothing, packaged food products, smoking paraphanelia to phones and electronics. They also had...
Read moreCame here after seeing 2 reviews from instagram. Have always wanted to try a chop cheese sandwich. The first day I went there was a nice young lady she helped me out, and the others in the line as we all talked about the ig post. I went yesterday it was a different lady she finally helped me I asked for a Chop cheese combo, she told me they don’t have it. Well it will be a 20 min. That’s fine I can come back tomorrow. Today I go in and ask if they have any chop cheese sandwiches today? She said “yea” I asked if I could get the combo. She asked small or large. I didn’t know there was a difference, I said large. She said what else? I said the combo, she said what kind of combo? I said the chop cheese combo. She said what kind? Small or large. We already had established that, she had an attitude the whole time talking as if I’m dumb. I’m just here to support, but having someone being disrespectful 2 days in a...
Read moreMy brother took me to this store from St. Petersburg as I have enjoyed the Cuban sandwiches that he had brought me from here previously. But on this date in October, we waited for well over an hour before we placed our order for 4 sandwiches. Once the clerk took our order, after about 15 minutes, she said that she had to leave and pick up her daughter from the airport. My brother promptly told the other customers that no one was coming and we left the store. Two hours of waiting and no sandwiches. We haven't been back since. My brother knows the owner and contacted him and told him what happened. He offered him a free sandwich the next time, but I...
