This hotel restaurant is attempting to find its identity and is a hot & cold with its overall performance. We ate there two times during our last trip to Taos Ski Valley. The first time, we had a good experience with good service and food. The rosemary fries and margarita pizza are good. The second time, we were treated like an annoyance because we asked for the kids pasta that is on the menu. I guess the chef did not want to make pasta that day for kiddos. It is one of the nicer and certainly the most expensive restaurant on the mountain.

Great place to wait for traffic to die down after skiing. Amanda was a great server. The food was good...very nice presentation and flavor was decent. To be honest some of the food looked better than it tasted. We had charred brussel sprouts, which was a bit too charred and bitter for us, carrot and ginger soup, sea scallops and ribeye. They initially overcooked our steak and didn’t hesitate to cook us a different one. They even comped us dessert which really shows that customer satisfaction was top notch.

Lovely location, on the mountain. Cocktails were excellent and the service was so friendly and personable. We had pizza, which was relatively good. Overall, the experience was great, not entirely sure why the restaurant has a 3.9 star rating at the time of writing this. We did visit in the off-season, however, which might make a difference.

We ate here for dinner twice and breakfast once on a weekday ski trip in March 2024 and overall it was fairly disapointing. We were staying at the Blake and there are only a couple other options open on weekdays unfortunately. Service was pretty good, but they were understaffed and only filling about half of the tables with customers. The menu is fairly small, and the pizza oven was broken, so no pizza was available, and each night at least one other entree was not available. Very few dairy free options on the menu, I ended up getting the salmon both nights as the only other entree they can make dairy-free was eggplant which I can't stand. The salmon with mushrooms was good, although it came with squash and there was no option for rice or potatoes instead. The second night I asked for fries instead of the squash (the only other carb they could sub apparently). The fries were good but did not come with a sauce of any sort - the aioli has dairy so I asked for mayo instead, they didn't have mayo so I said ketchup would be fine, but they didn't bring any. with the meal. They also left off the mushrooms so it was literally just a plate with a pile of fries and a piece of salmon wrapped in crispy prosciutto, with no sauce or vegetables of any kind. They did bring me some mushrooms and ketchup but I had to ask for it and it took a while.

Wife thought the pastas were a bit disapointing as well. Scallops crudo was just OK, beet salad was good but not great, etc. The servers are doing their best but they need more staff and a larger menu with more options especially for dairy-free/lactose intolerant folks.

Breakfast took a while (on a powder day when we wanted to get out on the slopes early) and was pretty disapointing for the prices. We got breakfast burritos at Cid's the second morning and would definitely recommend that over a sit down...

I have such mixed feelings about this place . I know we will be back, I’m happy they are here and happy they are back to a longer window of being open compared to the last 3 seasons . The complaint has to do with unscrupulous conduct by the restaurant manager ! Our bill was double what we ordered . She came over twice to us. Once informing that we could not order the pasta dish and chicken sandwich. We were there at 3 and they were from the dinner menu at 5. We were given a dinner menu vs Apres. Not a big deal and those things happen . We are waiting on a cookie we ordered and this was delivered at the same time the day before . Than she comes back and states, no skillet cookie- it also is served only after 5. We let her know we were served this the day before at this time - she says she was reprimanded. Okay- we understand . She was the manager - the server/ waiter was trying his best. I gave them a card to close out - bill came out and I felt that the charge seemed abnormally high . I asked for an itemized version. It was double what it should be Then everything collapsed. They had charged us for food not served . The server got in trouble it appeared . Manager was put off by crediting and rerunning the card . I asked what is this issue to manager ? She got extremely defensive and never apologized. She stated she was not aware what happened - huh ? She came and informed us twice that items were not available, we also watched her reluctantly give us a credit and has the audacity to say “she was not aware.” I said we were only looking for an apology- it felt to us she was trying to slip something by us as customers . We have been skiing here regularly since 1982. You have not lost a customer - but training your service staff on service needs to...

We’ve stayed and eaten at The Blake many times. Went up to the ski valley last night to try 192 since it opened again. This is a hotel that you are typically paying $400-$1000: night, so I kind of expect a restaurant to match the caliber of the rooms. I sat down with my 9 yo boy who can eat an adult entree without pause. We are a handed a menu with 3 salads choices, 3 app choices and 5 entrees; my son orders the River Trout and guess what - they don’t have that tonight, so really there are 4 entree choices. I was handed the wine/cocktail bar menu with 3 glasses of red or white for choices @ $14/glass or in the $40 dollar range for a bottle; I asked for the wine list and the server brought me the reserve list which was crumpled up and stained with who knows what with the least expensive bottle starting at $320, so nothing in between a $40 bottle and a $320 bottle. Obviously, I was handed the “Reserve” list, but where’s the wine list people??? You can’t tout yourself as the number one hotel in New Mexico with a hotel restaurant that can’t write a menu or a wine list. Perhaps they need to go to Santa Fe for some research and development. We left and never...
