Taylor AC Lounge — Restaurant in Taylor

I have lived one mile away for 12 years. One of the owners of the business I worked for frequented this place and I always meant to stop in. I'm not much of a drinker, but do like to shoot pool. I feel like neighborhood bars are so much alike that there's not much to review. This review is about the burger. The sign out front said "Best burger in town", so I figured I'd give them a shot. The menu has a pretty good selection for a small bar and the prices were in order for what prices have become everywhere since the pandemic. I went to the burgers and discovered the AC burger was $8. That was a bit high for my budget, though not out of line. I saw the smash burger with grilled onions for $4 and thought that sounded pretty good. I ordered three and three fries. It took a few minutes, but not too long to get my order, then I headed home. The fries were fries. They were cooked properly and not all oily. Now for the burger... I was very pleasantly surprised at the size for the price. Cheese? Yes, though the menu didn't mention any. Nice. The grilled onions were there and looked good. Time to eat! The burger was delicious. The wife loves a good "bar burger" and she was impressed. Happy wife, happy life! She said this is now the place to go for a burger. Like my profile says... Average Joe that likes to eat cheap most of the time. Well, next time, I'm ordering the AC burgers. The bar maid said twice the size of the smash burger and very good. I'm absolutely sure it will be $8 well spent! So, the bottom line is is you want a great burger, give this little bar a try. You won't be disappointed. P.s.. If they had some seasoned fries added to the menu, I would really like that.

UPDATE Tonight I stopped in the AC to have the AC Burger. I ordered mine medium well with everything. When my burger arrived it was a very well sized burger. It was cooked perfectly with a fair amount of light pink inside. The bun was not fancy, but was very good. It was very fresh, with a nice toast on the inside and tastes much better than the run of the mill bun I have had elsewhere. Everything was fresh. I enjoyed my burger totally. Now with that being said, I still liked the smash burger so much, that I would opt for two of those, nothing against the AC burger at all. The smash burger is a different sandwich and is my preference. Either one you choose, you can't go wrong. My side was deep fried mushrooms. They were as expected as far as being frozen ready to drop, but they were cooked perfectly. This is unusual most of the time. Flavor was good, but the light crispy breading with no raw batter inside was what made them. Holly nailed it. Oh and she served it up fast too, which was good cuz I was hungry. The only thing that I would like to add that carries a touch of criticism is that I would have liked to see a few more mushrooms in the basket. I am not complaining tho, since I seriously enjoyed them. Like I said... "Average Joe that likes to eat cheap most of the time", but twirly appreciate good properly priced food. If you're in to waiting for poor service, a kitchen that's just for show, and prejudiced bar maids, then look no further, this is the place for you! My husband and I arrived at the bar around 6 pm, just as shift change was taking place, and our first round of drinks were served to us by the dayshift gal promptly and with smiles, but after she left, so did the service. The young lady left in charge afterwards was practically non existent. She would often sit in the kitchen, away from the bar. Not engaging at all, and seemingly avoiding being available. It felt like we were an inconvenience at times. We had friends come up to join us too, and we were all buying drinks regularly. Around 8:30p, our next-door neighbors joined us for celebratory wedding day shots. When they went in to order drinks, they were promptly asked for I.D. We weren't carded, and didn't see anyone else get carded.. but our black neighbors were.. I found that to be quite suspicious and audacious. The bar does have a reputation to be a hang out for a local motorcycle club, but I thought this was 2022, and we were growing past prejudices. Not here I guess. We appear to be more embarrassed about the situation than our neighbors. They handled everything with class, still bought a dozen shots for our party - literally, and took right off. But how it made us feel will keep me or my husband from sinking another dollar into that establishment. The saving grace about the entire evening was DJ Dan. He was extra quick to jump right in and try his best to rectify the situation, and get everybody back to having fun and singing. Hes a great host and a very nice man....

For this not being the kind of place I would want to go to. Just not the kind of bar I'm into. This is my second time going with my friend cause she likes it for the karaoke. Food is never to bad for bar food. But the service really is something. It take forever to get drinks if you don't hunt down the bartender. Both times I've been here the tabs have been wrong but first time it wasn't bad. But this time the bartender tried charging me for to buckets that were not mine but one of the people in my group. And it was like a fight to get it taken off my tab and one there's. Bartender was either really drunk or high as a kite. Barely could understand my conversation with her. She at one point took a food order for some appetizers for me so I could get something. And it took almost an hour to get some fried food. While it was pretty good. I was mad but still having a good time. She said that the cook was away for awhile when she brought it to me but he was definitely doing something in the back with one of the waitresses. But I didn't care all that much she said she would give me half off for the wait. But when I went to pay it was still full price but I didn't care because I just wanted to leave after her trying to charge me for stuff I didn't buy. If she kept fighting I was just gonna walk out and pay whoever in my party got charged for my stuff. Music was nice and dan was a great time otherwise. But bar staff needs...
