Place has gone down hill. I have ate at this restaurant since 2019. I have recommended this restaurant to many people. Until I heard rumors of the health inspections failing the restaurant. Makes since as to why the restaurant was closed for a long period of time. I figured it was due to family situations but in all actuality it was to cover up closure of the restaurant due to the abundance of rats and roach infestation. So they painted the walls and claimed to renovated restaurant. The server today explained to me about the health inspectors and all their rules. Which grossed me out because I could only imagine what “rules” the didn’t follow and reminded me of the closure. Even with cosmetic painting of walls, it’s smells of sewage from what I assume to be the old pipes in the restroom (hope not from food in kitchen). You can make a place “look” pretty but is it sanitary. I already couldn’t eat there without the smell of restroom. I wanted to leave but my husband wanted to eat there in hopes the food is good as it was before. Then to find out by frequent customers that the reason food was sour in taste today is because they cook on Sunday and freeze and warm up food to be served until they make fresh batch the weekend for the service of next week. These customers recommended that the food is better the beginning of the week, but don’t recommend eating at Zapata towards the end of the week. Nothing is fresh. They microwaved the menudo that I ordered so hot it took an hour to cool. Not to mention the menudo smelled like old rags and tastes of old pork. It wasn’t fresh at all. The tortillas had no flavor and powdery. The breakfast tacos are made with huge flavorless tortillas and filled with (I counted) ten potatoes and shredded cheese. I couldn’t tell if I was eating a taco or just a tortilla. I was trying to give this place benefit of doubt but was hard cause I could smell the menudo I ordered wasn’t fresh. I have eaten the menudo at Zapata before so I knew they could make some good menudo. But today I smelled it and even tasted it. And to my surprise it tasted like it smelled and the pork tasted sour. I told the manager and he said it was made fresh daily. I said sure and that I wasn’t going to eat it and get sick. He said I had to pay for it and argued with me. An actual manager should know better in how to treat a customer. The cashier didn’t know how to delegate the difference of talking to a customer or one of her friends off the streets. I would travel 30 mins to eat at Zapatas to support small businesses and to eat what used to be eatable food. I would rather eat at Taco Bell before I would ever eat there. I should of listened to the people who live in Taylor who know about their town and all their dirty little nasty...

The food was cold, the service was not good and there were black ants crawling all over a table we were going to sit at. We moved to another table and told the waiter and the waiter was like oh ok and then 3 other people walked in and sat down there and he just handed them a menu. The kitchen has bowles all over it like if they are reheating everything. This place used to be really good but the quality of the food has really gone down for the price you pay. They don't even give you tostada chips after 11am unless you order an actual lunch plate. We ordered $47 worth of tacos and they wanted to charge us $1.25 for chips so we were like nah. Then they charge you .65 cents to use your credit card to pay. The only thing that's good there was the tortillas but that was it. The place was dirty and the food was not fresh. I don't recommend this place any more. It has...

This facility operates very conservatively....A/R units, hot sauce(chili) served on tiny disposable plastic containers(for leftovers) and no dinner napkins provided, instead the cocktail napkins !! The other ironic thing, a wasp was swarming around the window, mentioned it to the waitress-no action taken (we had to be on the alert that we did not get attacked). Only positive thing was food items: menudo, good & hot, homemade tortillas and small menudo at $8.00(which other restaurants only have the large menudo at $10). I was not pleased with my chorizo/egg taco, 'too' much egg, not even 50/50 chorizo/egg portion. Do not intend to visit this location again. (had problem locating business by name off Hwy 79/had to ask a customer in parking lot 'is...

We've been going here for years. We've ordered several breakfast tacos, especially the bean and cheese for our two year old. Yesterday, ordered tacos and the bean and cheese taco had a rock. An obvious rock. Luckily, it was my wife who was eating the taco. I called today to inform. Mind you, a sincere apology would have gone a long way. Instead, I was told that beans may not have been sorted properly, "sorry" and hung up on. After years of going there, we will no longer be back. Eat at your own risk!

You want real food, eat local. Eating at these local not helps the business but you get better food, higher quality of food. These breakfast tacos are Mexican Americans eat growing up at home and at these kind of local restaurants. The tortillas are hand made, and that is important for breakfast tacos it adds to the flavor. It’s not the prettiest restaurant but that shouldn’t matter. The food is the main priority. Another reason to stop in to eat, it’s cheaper.

my husband ordered the menudo and he said the menudo was super oily/greasy and it tasted a bit burnt. couldn’t eat it. he ended up eating off my plate. but overall my plate was delicious!! waitress was really nice and checked in on us frequently. service was excellent. even though the menudo wasn’t his favorite, we will continue being customers.
