This may seem like a strange review, but It was such a unique overall experience. I found this place through a search for best hamburger restaurant near me. It was the highest rated but I was a little skeptical because the town was small and rural. It was lunchtime on a Monday and I was shocked to arrive and find that there was a waiting area full of people. They put us on a list and said it would be 15-20 minutes. As we waited I noticed a plaque in honor of the founder. The plaque included photos during his time in the armed service and one of him as an older man. I wanted to read the story but I had forgotten my glasses. I settled for watching and listening to the people who were waiting and the customers who were paying as they left. I was very impressed with both. Everyone was kind and seemed to be enjoying life. Another thing I noticed was that I heard several conversations that included reference to church and Sunday school class. This may not mean much to some but to me it was so refreshing. At one point a man offered to stand and give me his seat.
After about 15 minutes we were led to our table and handed a menu. I heard the waitress interact with some of the customers and was reminded of the TV town of Mayberry. When she came to our table she was just as friendly as she had been with the other diners. In fact all the waitresses and other workers seemed to be proud of their jobs and respectful of the customers.
Beyond the totally pleasant and uplifting atmosphere(5 stars+), the restaurant was clean, the service was attentive, the food was good (I particularly loved the fries) and the prices were very reasonable.
I would have given 4.5 stars if I could have. If you're in Taylorsville, I believe you will be blessed by having a meal here. And if you have someone to share it with, definitely get the hot apple crisp and ice cream...
Read moreSix months ago, I gave Scotty's a 3-star review for customer service. Today I am editing it to 1 star. I went through the drive-thru at lunch today and ordered a LOADED baked potato. Since they have 2 types of loaded potatoes (one with bacon and one with ground beef) I made sure to tell the man at the window that I wanted a LOADED potato with Bacon. When I get home, there is only bacon and NO cheese. I called, the same man answered. I explained there was no cheese on my potato. He said I thought that's what you wanted because you said Bacon. I had to explained to him HIS own menu about the 2 choices of LOADED potatoes. (I know this because we eat here often and all the waitresses make sure to ask me if I want the loaded potato with bacon and/or ground beef, etc.) The man then asked me if I wanted to come back to get the cheese. Seriously? I'm not going to drive back for cheese. I told him I was already home and could not come back, then I asked if he could just take my name and make it up to me the next time I'm there. He then proceeded to tell me that he didn't charge me for the cheese so there's nothing to make up. Are you kidding?? How about I charge Scotty's for the inconvenience of their mistake? Or charge them for the time wasted on the call and the time wasted typing this review to let everyone know? This is horrible customer service. Yes, this is about them messing up my order, but my review is more about customer service for loyal patrons. They made the mistake and they should be eager to make it right. That's customer service 101. Not sure who the man was, an employee, manager, or the owner....either way they need to learn how to correct their mistakes and treat...
Read moreAbsolutely perfect food PERFECT!!! and our second waitress was wonderful!!.... 4 out of 5.
I cannot do 5 out of 5 due to not the best waitress so we asked for change and were blessed with Amanda. I hope when we are in town again we can come around to eat there, it was so good!!
Lisa was our original waitress who very abrasive, kept hubby coffee full but he kept saying clearly he was wanting a different drink. So, she acted like she couldn't understand him (hes Hispanic but is English speaker!!) and I asked her to get him a drink, he wasn't too sure what he wanted, and instead of giving him options and BEING A WAITRESS, she continued on and walking away snapping at me "he SAID he was fine. I have others waiting for me to take their order!".
Owners mother said Lisa's all business, and that's why she comes off as unfriendly. I dont care...part of the WAITRESSING BUSINESS is making sure you take care of the customer and ARE FRIENDLY TOO. Lisa did neither. I have waitresses over 20+ yrs or been in customer service of some type. We weren't asking for a bunch of things to the side, etc. I even got up and got my own pie....
But when you act like a person isn't speaking where you can understand (he clearly asked "what other drinks do you have that are cold?") AND I'm sitting right there in case you can't understand clear English and you are as friendly as a mad hornet all that combined no. I draw line on rudeness with my husband...and it seemed she wasn't very interested in our table and while not racist it was certainly not ok the way she made it clear about my husbands English. Owners mother understood him more than she...
