I’ve been to a lot of Vietnamese places over the years and this gem located in a small strip mall in the small town Telford, PA was probably among the top 3 best Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been too. It was recommend by our neighbor and it surely did not disappoint.
The apps - summer roll; very fresh veggies and shrimp as well as very flavorful grilled pork. Was wrapped tightly and the filling didn’t fall out like a lot of other restaurants. The peanut sauce was well balanced, love a good peanut sauce. The fried spring rolls were definitely house made and not bought frozen; well if it was, it had me fooled. The filling had a generous amount of pork and the flavors were explosive. Was fried very crispy. So good. The dipping cause was less fishy than others but more vinegary which gave it a nice acidic punch.
The noods - I got the #1 pho which is the classic beef noodle soup with all the fixings. That’s always my go to as a baseline. It was served piping hot which as any good Asian knows is quintessential to having a happy belly. The soup was full of flavor without being heavy. You can taste the hours and hours of simmering away of the bones and meats. Speaking of the meat, all the beef cuts were tender and fresh. The noodles were cooked perfect, had a good texture from start to finish. Even the side of sprouts, basil and other accoutrements were fresh. My husband isn’t a big soup guy, he ordered the #11 which is the dry seafood rice noodles with chicken soup on the side. The sauce for the noodles was very clean and classic of a sweet soy and sesame oil flavor. The seafood was cleaned and flavorful. The chicken broth was of good quality, a little sweet but still very satisfying.
Our neighbor also recommended the banh mi and again, it did not disappoint. We ordered the grilled pork banh mi to share. The pork was super flavorful and juicy. Sometimes the meat in a banh mi can be dried out and jerky like but this wasn’t that at all. The bread was crusty but soft. The owner said they usually order about 50 rolls daily from the bakery to keep the freshness. So so good. This was my husband’s favorite.
The overall ambience was a little lacking though but when your food is that good, the simple decor is perfectly acceptable. Could use a few pictures on the plain yellow walls, but that’s just a suggestion, not a must. Lot of Asian customers that night which is a good sign as well. The staff were awesome. Super quick service like any good Asian restaurant.
Overall an amazing find in a small town. Would highly recommend even if you gotta make the...
Read moreVietnam cafe restaurant is hands down one of the best Vietnamese food you can find in the area (outside philly) and arguably in the county. They care about what they put out of the kitchen and it shows. Their food is fresh and delicious. I go here at least 2-3 times a month and I was never disappointed. They have a good variety of dishes to offer such as Vietnamese hoagies, pho, seafood noodles, rice dishes, appetizers, traditional Vietnamese dishes and so much more. Food is delicious and the portions are generous. Don't be afraid to try different things other than pho and Vietnamese hoagies; try something else and be adventurous.
Locals like it and it is fairly busy at nights specially weekends.
You can tell I really like the food, however There is a reason I cant give this restaurant a higher score. I understand that this place gets a lot of take-out orders but I believe aesthetics and cleanliness of the restaurant is very important and it really affects how customers think about the whole operation of the restaurant, not just the guests room. I've been here many times and I really believe they can and should really do better when it comes to cleaning the tables, floor and especially the bathrooms. It might not affect the food directly, but believe me, it definitely has an effect on the overall experience if you want to eat inside...
Read moreMy favorite cuisine is Vietnamese food and I’ve tried everyone of the restaurants that serve Vietnamese food in Montgomery county and surrounding areas. I have to say this restaurant is the best in my opinion. They do not take shortcuts in ingredients and are fresh, not like some other restaurants that had bad experience after eating food or beef, tendons taste like expired or not fresh. Here’s a good example, just look at this Bum Bo Hue, one of my favorites… they make authentic style, on request they will add pork leg and cartilage, and other ingredients that make this dish delicious. On rare occasion, you might find a place in South Philly that may have these added ingredients option. Vietnam Cafe takes pride in making good Vietnamese food, you can taste the difference. As for the Pho dishes, I’ve been to a lot of other restaurants in area that you can beef is not fresh and serve with water down Pho broth soup on order.
You want experience authentic Vietnamese, this place is it! It’s funny that this restaurant is located in small Town Telford; who would have thought the best Vietnamese food landed in this location. I’ve been coming here for a long time and great...
