Bistro at Monte De Oro Winery — Restaurant in Temecula

I'm not sure how this place is a 4.8. I guess it needs more reviews. Stopped here for a late lunch. It's an "order at the counter" we will bring the food out kind of place. You have to get your wine, separately, at the tasting counter if you're going to have any. The menu has a decent selection of options for everyone. The food, however, is pretty average. The pizza's come on a pre-made frozen crust that's really not good at all. Come on people, pizza dough isn't that hard to make. The Margarita Pizza had about4 roasted tomatoes and 2 tsp of basil on it. The roasted tomatoes were tasty but there were hardly any of them on there. The parmesan fries were ok, the chicken gyro advertised as having "braised" chicken which I thought was strange but turns out it was grilled chicken after all. It was tasty enough but lacked enough sauce to be great. The side Caesar salad was just a small bowl of mostly wilted lettuce, cheap boxed croutons and a way too anchovy forward dressing. Food was great. The steak used in the salad and steak sandwich was very tender. The hummus plate was great, though it could use more hummus. I'm knocking off a star only because this place doesn't serve beer. It's a winery, I know, I know. 🤪 I still think they should at least offer a couple of bottled beers for the beer lovers. 🍻

All in all, it's a nice place with great vistas...
