Flautas y Paleteria Tepalca — Restaurant in Texas

When you see the one star it is not because of poor food quality. I can’t answer to how the food is because I never got my food. I placed a phone order thinking that would shorten my wait. Well I thought wrong. When I got there of course there wasn’t any parking, they only have six spaces and three along Doniphan. Then the line was out the door. They only have one register so if you ordered ahead you still have to wait in line or risk angering the mob that’s been waiting in line for 20 minutes. Get to the register and the order isn’t ready but it’ll be coming out soon. Total time at this point from phone order to register was 45 minutes. Then waited another 20 minutes and then was told my order was next. 10 minutes after that the young lady comes from behind the counter and asks for my receipt. She then returns and apologizes but that the order was just put in and it will be another 10 minutes. I asked for my money back and they were very gracious and apologized and returned my money. The people are nice but it is obvious they have outgrown their facility. I will not be returning to this...

After hearing about this great establishments prices and great food we decided to drop in. Arriving there was no one at the outside booth and a sign on the door instructed us to go inside. To my surprise while waiting in line inside to order the clerk at the register had her neck full of hickeys. To each their own yet an employee represents a business while working with customers in public and that type of disregard for their appearance is quite unprofessional in my opinion. What really made us walk out was watching this same clerk return change to customers and serve aqua fresca drinks to customers in a sloppy way where the drink was dripping over the cup on her gloves and dripping back into the drink pan and she continued to do the same with other flavored drinks. We decided to walk out. During this pandemic crisis observations of this type of unsanitary practice is a red flag. I really love their aguas frescas. Definitely a must try! Food was pretty decent. Salsas were ok, nothing special. I have yet to try their flautas. Which are advertised to be the best in El Paso. My favorite items to get from here are the aguas frescas and their snacks/desserts. Their food is a bit over priced. I've been to other restaurants that give you way more food for the same amount of money. I wish they were a bit more cleaner though. I dont know if I just come at a bad hour, but whenever I go, the tables are dirty or not wiped down and I find myself stepping on food that was left on the ground by previous customers.
