🤔 The cornmeal dough is always exceptional in this eatery's tamales. I've taken tamales to work and they always receive compliments on the doughs consistency, flavor and cohesiveness. Buuuut...my recent purchase after a 4 month absence did not impress me as it usually does. The guisado as we/they call it in spanish which is the tamale filling was a bit watery on this batch of chile con queso tamales. The sogginess caused the tamales to crumble upon a bite. I like to eat tamales by hand from start to finish..sorry it's an old habit from childhood or a trait passed down from anthropoid progenitors...so eating this batch by hand was not a possibility. Yet that didn't stop me from eating them👍. My recommendation isn't required for this eatery as the long lines in the front of Lupitas from the faithful patrons who return for these delicious treats speak louder than my written review. For you millinneals I'll put it in a manner you can understand, the tamales are delish af. The price for a dozen is $16 but well worth the compliments at...
Read moreIt's tamales season so let's begin. I came here with my clan, my kids and sister because we pass by all the time to go the nursery and there's always a line outside. To start, there was no dining area except for the outside benches which were not kept up with. It's a tiny area inside that's not a problem. Anyways, the food itself could be a little bit better. We tried the eloteh tamales. Ok ..I had a problem with these because they were made with regular masa and elotes with cheese filling. The way we in our family know eloteh tamales they are supposed be made with freshly ground corn and sugar and put in a fresh green maiz leaf. So I was thrown off. In other words I was CATFiSHED... moving forward, the tamales weren't hideous they were good. They were ok. I think if they had a better dining area I would've given them more stars. We were hungry and it was too cold to eat outside so we had to drive all the way home...
Read moreDon't believe the hype. I spent around 40 dollars on 1 dozen red and 1/2 dozen chile and cheese 🫔 tamales. Unfortunately, this place only cares about making money 💰 and not so much about quality. Went during New Years Eve. Waited in line 45 minutes. When I placed the order, I'm sure they noticed how badly burnt they were. Of course, I didn't notice it because there's too much going on, and they want to know in a hurry what you're getting and for you to be on your way. When I got home, the red tamales were burnt. They were mostly just masa and no meat. They were sandy and not how they are supposed to be. They were so dry hardly had any red chile, bland in flavor. I ended up contacting a friend of a friend for tamales because these were so bad. The chile and cheese were good and way better than the red. I'll give them that. They weren't sandy, they had good flavor but not worth my...
