Karaboo's Bakery — Restaurant in Texas

I usually only write good reviews for places, but I just had to do this to warn other people so their eevent is not ruined as well . I ordered a cookie cake for a birthday party. It was expensive ($40 for an 10 inch cookie cake)but I was expecting a bakery quality cake so I went with it. When I showed up to pick it up, I don’t think it was even ready. I asked for very simple writing on it so i think the just threw it on after i got there. I had to wait for it. It was odd to me that they were not friendly to me either like usual, but I guess they were embarrassed. (I was there at the time they told me). I will say it was a nice thick cookie (deeper than the grocery store ones / probably about and inch and 1/2). But, when we cut it a couple of hours latter it was so dry we could hardly cut through it. It was so very tough and dried out that I had to put on a cutting board and pound the knife. No one could eat it like that. I ended up just cutting tiny pieces from the center center pieces to freshen in the microwave and luckily I could put some ice creme I had on top. But most people could not eat it. I picked up a gluten free brownie and some other cookies too. The brownie was like a hockey puck (I’ve gotten them before there and they were fresher - but not that day) and some other cookies. The lemon cookies were ok but the oatmeal were dry and hard. Overall, I’d say it’s luck of the draw to buy from here, but for that amount for a cookie cake any supermarket would be much better and for 1/3 of the price. Very disappointing. It could’ve been better if they had just said “look, we had an issue today, it’s not our best showing, I’ll give you a discount or something off your next order”. But it was like they were trying to hide it. It’ll be a long time before I ever try them again, and I’m very leery of their other restaurant now too. NEVER AGAIN WILL I ORDER FROM THEM THIS IS THE 1ST AND LAST TIME I WILL EVER USE THEM, I PLACED MY ORDER A MONTH IN ADVANCE WENT IN SHOWED THEM THE PICS TO MAKE SURE THEY COULD MAKE THE CAKE, THEY SAID YES THE THEME WAS MICKEY MOUSE I TOLD THEM IT WAS FOR MY SONS 1ST BDAY SO MUCH WAS WRONG WITH THE CAKE WHEN I PICKED IT UP, FOR STARTERS IT WAS NOTHING LIKE I WANTED, I SAID NO FONDANT AND THERE WAS FONDANT ALL OVER THE CAKE(THE ONLY THING I SAID COULD BE FONDANT WAS THE MICKEY(WHERE THE BEAR IS IN REFERENCE PICTURE), THEY PUT BIG HARD SPRINKLES ON THE CAKE(WHICH WAS NOT REQUESTED) THEN I WANTED CHARACTERS AND BEFORE I PLACED ORDER THE GIRL ASKED THE OTHER GIRL IF SHE WAS GOING TO ORDER THE CHARACTERS CAUSE IF SHE WASN'T I WAS GOING TO ORDER THEM SHE SAID YES WELL THE DAY COMES AND SHE PRINTED OUT 1 CHARACTER(MICKEY MOUSE) WHICH WASN'T EVEN EDIBLE, THEN IT LOOKS LIKE THE CAKE WAS JUST THROWN TOGETHER. I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH THEM THEY OFFERED $25 REFUND OR A DISCOUNT ON A FUTURE CAKE, I DID NOT ACCEPT THAT OFFER AS I PAID $122 AFTER TAX ON A CAKE THAT THEY MESSED UP NOT ME. I WILL POST PICS OF WHAT THE CAKE SHOULD OF LOOKED LIKE(IN MICKEY MOUSE THEME) AND WHAT I GOT PLUS THE ORDER FORM. THEY TOOK THIS SPECIAL MOMENT AWAY FROM OUR SONS 1ST BDAY THATS SOMETHING WE CAN NEVER GET BACK. Since they want to say something about me waiting to call them let's just put it out there yes I did wait and yes when I called I explained to them I waited cause I was extremely mad and didn't want to flip out on them to which their response was I completely understand that, if yall are worried about if the cake was ate I still haven't burned my trash as we r under burn ban and I can show I threw the whole cake away except a few pieces and the person who was with me loved the cake but she also didn't know wut it was supposed to look like I never once...

I was a little weary to try and new bakery for my wedding cake. We have used other bakeries in the past and have received subpar cakes. From the time we walked in the door at KaraBoo Bakery we were treated with respect. I gave instructions as to what I wanted and they took detailed notes. When I saw my cake it looked better than I expected but......when we tasted the white cake with raspberry filling it was AMAZING!!!! The lemon layer tasted just like fresh lemons 🍋. We were absolutely pleased beyond expectation.

Oh I forgot, the German chocolate grooms cake was excellent also!
