My wife and I dine out almost every night and I can say without a doubt La Cocina is one of the best Mexican restaurants not only in Richmond/Rosenburg area but possibly in all of Houston. We are never disappointed here. The food is wonderful and the staff is excellent and professional. The owner is there quite frequently and you can tell he really cares about not only his guests having a wonderful dining experience, but he also cares for his staff which really shows on how guests are treated. We are always treated like family here. Always greeted with a smile and this makes us feel so comfortable when we walk in. The entire staff is very friendly and attentive to their guests, and seem to truly care about your dining experience with them. The dining room is very casual and there is a small bar area in a separate room with multiple TV’s for watching a big game that might be on. They have incredible food and drink specials throughout the week, with each day a different special. The owner has done many updates recently and one of those is the patio. The new patio has comfortable seating and new running lights that make for a good mood and ambiance for when the weather is nice to dine outside. The food is incredible here, we have never had a bad meal in the many time we have visited. Our dinner always comes out fresh and hot, it’s all made from scratch using fresh ingredients. They have some of the best fajitas we have even tasted. We have tried most of the items on the menu and while you can’t go wrong on any of the menu items, out favorite is the street tacos which is a bit spicy but oh so good. I’m not sure what they use to give them that flavor but it’s out of this world good. I personally can’t eat just one. I usually finish the street tacos with a tasty margarita which I find can’t be beat here. They have just right with the balance between tequila and mix. They only serve breakfast on the weekends till noon, but this is not to be missed, the breakfast tacos are the best deal in town. One is enough to fill you up for the day. Many different breakfast tacos to choose from. If you are in the area or just looking for a new place to try, do not hesitate to try La Cocina. It’s a very relaxing place with a nice atmosphere where, although upbeat and fun, you can still carry on a conversation with each other without yelling across a table, great for a date night....

We were introduced to this place many years ago when friends lived in the area. They have since moved on to other parts of Houston and we were living outside of the city, so no opportunities to patronage this location. we have recently moved back into the area and have been here two or three times over the past month. The staff is extremely friendly and assertive from the moment you walk in the door we grew up in another part of the state where apparently sour cream enchiladas is a normal item whereas in the Houston market it is not. We asked if they were able to help us out and without hesitation they sent someone from the kitchen who listened to what we were trying to order and they were able to create the sour cream enchiladas for us. They were outstanding and we highly recommend you either trying or coming back to this particular location. As I said we have been there several times lately, on a Friday night, and the business was very slow. We would encourage you to give them another chance or to seek them out if you...

16$ FOR BAD SHRIMP My buddy and I went to eat here we were both extremely hungry and he told me it's a good little spot. We sit down and order. My buddy says he wants tortilla soup with no mushrooms. The waiter instantly says "It's already cooked with it." My friend responded "that's fine", then I ordered the shrimp cocktail.

10-15 Minutes pass and I receive my plate and it is super small amount of shrimp and in a little bowl. That's just the beginning of the problems.. The plate had more crackers than actual my order.. I take a bite of the shrimp and instantly taste like metal/iron. I had to get up and go to the restroom to spit it out.

After that my buddy says "tortilla soup por favor?!" The waiter then proceeds to say he didn't order it and tell him he said something else and he didn't want it. I tried to explain he said he didn't want the mushrooms but said it's ok. On top of all that we were the only customers in there.

Got the tab and left...

I had such a great experience at this casual Tex-Mex gem. The bean and cheese nachos were the perfect mix of crispy and cheesy—honestly some of the best I’ve had in a while. The puffy queso was dangerously good; light, creamy, and packed with flavor. And the enchiladas? Total comfort food—rich, satisfying, and made with obvious care. The laid-back vibe and friendly service made it even better. This is the kind of place you keep coming back to when you want something delicious and unpretentious. Can’t wait for my next visit!

Finished visiting Brazos Bend State Park and we were craving some yummy Mexican food, I googled a few Mexican restaurants near by and came across La Cocina. It had great reviews and it didn’t look overpriced! As soon as I tried their chips and salsa, I knew everything else would most likely be delicious and I was in fact correct. Service was friendly and fast and the food was yummy and fresh. Needless to say we will be back here again.
