San Juan Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Texas

On August 15th around 5:30pm I placed an order for pickup. I ordered and the server didn’t mention what I ordered was the daily special. Sure I didn’t ask what the special was, but I would have liked to be charged for a special including a drink. Nevertheless, I arrived to pic up my order. The server, young Hispanic male with dark hair and an ear bud in his ear was standing by the expo window staring at his phone. The man washing dishes saw me and called the server to get his attention. When the server saw me let’s say he was less than enthusiastic to help. He proceeded to ring me up and when I saw the daily specials I asked if he charged me for the special. He replied, “Nope.” And continued to finish the credit card transaction. I’ve been to this place so many times over the last several months without any issues. This wasn’t the customer service I expected from this place. I wish I knew his name, but I hope the time, date and description can pin point the server. We all have bad days, but it’s not my fault he’s possibly having a bad day. The food is always good. I never leave bad reviews since I worked in the food industry for 20 years, but I had a terrible experience. I ordered my food for pick up and when I got there I was told it was cash only. No one mentioned it on the phone and the girl wasn’t willing to take a check or hold my card number until the machines were back up and running. She just said I could go use the atm next door. I didn’t have my debit card, so she was going to have me leave with no food. I then remembered I had an old card that might have some money on it so I walked next door to see if I could pull money out. Luckily I was able to pull the money out, but when I went back to pay my bill had suddenly jumped to $50. I was told it was $32 when I first showed up. I told her I needed to see a receipt because I didn’t order $50 worth of food and she told me it was $32. She finally took my $40 and gave me $12 back, so I guess it was only $28. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. The 4 stars are a lie I would give it negative 5 stars. I wouldnt feed the food at this place to my dogs. My family and I came to eat here thinking we were going to get great service and at least decent food but service was terrible and they were nickel and dime ING everything. They charged us 50 dollars for 3 people even after telling the new waitress that the food was terrible and the steak was so hard I couldn't bite into it. It was like the meat was frozen then reheated and overcooked. If you want the most terrible service with overcharged mexican food positioning this is the place for you! To add when my husband and brother tried to cut the steak it was so tried out like beef Jerky. -------‐--‐5

This restaurant needs to be looked at for up to date health codes. Anyone that eats here will be sick. This mexican reataurant needs to be shut down. We all got sick...
