The Riverside

The Riverside is always my go to when I'm in Maupin, the food is great and the prices are reasonable. The variety on the menu has worked for the wide range of eaters on my various trips, so I don't even worry about asking people what their minor dietary restrictions are. (I haven't had celiac or severe nut allergy people with me, so call ahead if you have serious restrictions).

My last time in (July 25th) was the best experience yet. We had 2 birthdays in our group and had just come landed from 3 days of rafting and camping. Before our trip I called to see if we could reserve an entire cheesecake for the birthdays (and seats for 16). Leah let me know that they would have an entire cake set aside for us. I am super grateful to the whole team, I think every server stopped by our tables while we were there, making sure we had water and dishes were taken away.

I ordered the green goddess salad and don't remember anywhere mentioning that it was a wedge salad, which is on me but for a 17 dollar, three ingredient salad I would've hoped that someone would have cut it up for me. When the salad arrived not only was it not cored but they made upside down and put the dressing on the wrong side of the wedge. It's basically an entire head of romaine with 2 tablespoons of dressing that slid onto the plate. It was messy and cumbersome to eat. The chicken that was ordered with it was dry and tasted like the grill trap.

However the service was awesome and the atmosphere was exactly what we wanted after a day driving around Mt.Hood. The pulled pork sandwich my friend ordered was pretty fkn good and I will return to this restaurant when I'm back in the area. We had a reservation for 18 people. They ran out of of almost all of the entrées and we had to wait two hours for the sandwiches we ordered. They did not comp a single drink or even apologize for the lack of food or the incredibly long wait time. When I got my fried chicken sandwich, it was mostly overcooked breading with a little bit of chicken in it, which was also overcooked.

They brought one of our party a completely different soup then what she ordered and told her they ran out of what she ordered only as they were bringing out the food we waited 2 hours for.

Seriously, do not recommend this place. I don’t like to leave bad reviews but this place really dropped the ball.
