Mary's Creative Cakery — Restaurant in Thomas Township

I ordered a chocolate layer cake for my daughter's 25th birthday in January of 2021. I live out of state, so I called Mary's Creative Cakery and asked about their cakes and what they offered. The woman who answered the phone was very helpful and friendly. I asked if they could make a moist, decadent, four layer chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing and chocolate ganache. I also asked if they could decorate the cake with dark and white chocolate roses and writing to create an elegant birthday cake for my daughter. The woman said they could and that they would take their normal two layers and split them in order to create four layers. When I asked if I could send a picture of what I imagined for decorating the cake, she gave me their email address to send an image. The cake was ready when promised, and my daughter's boyfriend picked it up from the shop where Covid-19 protocols were in place. My daughter said that the cake was both beautiful and absolutely delicious! She said it was moist, decadent, and one of the best chocolate cakes she had ever had, and believe me, my daughter is a chocolate cake connoisseur. I will definitely be ordering more cakes from Mary's Creative Cakery. In addition to being a beautiful, delicious cake, it was also very reasonably priced. I checked some other bakeries in the area before finding Mary's, but none of them were able to bake the cake I wanted within the week time frame, and their prices were much higher. Very disappointed! Cake was either frozen or burned or left out and dried up. I called the day after and asked for the owner or manager. The manager told me she was to busy and asked if I could call back 10 days later because they were closed the day for the week. I agreed and couldn’t call in until that Thursday which was three days after she asked me to call. She then told me I can’t do anything you waited way to long. She said we usually have the customer bring the cake back in so we can taste it to see if something is wrong. I’m 60 years old and never in my life have I had someone ask me to bring food back in so they can taste. I wasted $53 on a regular sized cake that tasted terrible. Honestly a boxed cake would have been so much better than there’s. I will NEVER SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS AGAIN. I have been a faithful customer since this business opened. Really nice shop full of baking/decorating supplies as well as fresh baked goods and chocolate/candy. We visited on Valentine's Day for some treats and weren't disappointed. I thought their chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake was the best cupcake I've ever had. My husband isn't much of a sweets person, but he really enjoyed their simple chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting. My son loved the monster cookie, which was adorable. We've also tried their frosted cutout cookies multiple times in the past when family has ordered them and they are really yummy and beautifully decorated.

Prices are a little high, but everything is going up in pricing and you can tell the hard work they put into their craft. I've never special ordered anything, so can't comment on that, but wouldn't hesitate to consider them in the future for special occasions.

Definitely will visit again, but for my wallet and waistline, it'll have to be only an occasional...
