Jon's Ice Cream Store & Restaurant — Restaurant in Tiffin

We saw an old sign on the road, it looked so old we thought for sure the place didn't actually exist anymore. But we were hungry and intrigued! After going a few miles with no further evidence of an ice cream/sandwich shoppe we assumed we were out of luck. Thankfully my husband looked up and saw the restaurant's sign as we were passing through an intersection. The building looked modern and quaint. Was this the shoppe the old sign intended to lead us to or was it just coincidence? We didn't care! We quickly turned around and drove back. It was a great day to sit outside so we got a couple cheeseburgers and fries and a sundae to split! The quality of food was incredible!!! We now want to try everything on the menu - and we're happy to make the 80 mile drive to do so! I'm also someone with a very sensitive stomach, especially with dairy products, and I was able to enjoy this sundae fully without feeling nauseated afterwards! The hours on google DO NOT match the hours of actual operation. “Alexis and Alexia” probably lied to me about their names, because they do not want to be linked to the atrocity of their actions. They said they closed at 9pm when google said they closed at 10pm. But it was 9:20pm and they served the people right in front of us. I’m darker, so I don’t know if they were being kind to the elderly in front of us or just racist. Please, just because you’re in Iowa doesn’t mean you can lie to your customers, and pick and choose who you can serve to. Do not give them business. This is a difficult review to write, but going to share my experience. The dining room at this facility is still closed, so we ordered from the window and ate outside. The food I would not recommend and would compare to bowling alley food.

Now for the positives, the hand dipped ice cream was delicious. I sampled the flavor of the month. The kids who have less adventurous pallets had the vanilla and chocolate frozen yogurt and both had excellent flavor. They were out of waffle cones on the day we visited. The mint chip ice cream made an excellent shake on a hot summer day.
