MJs is a nicely located restaurant with a bit of a cramped feeling entry, but cozy feel once seated. The view from our table was really nice overlooking a little fishing spot.
The food. I ordered the french onion soup and the barbacoa tacos. Other meals ordered were the fish tacos, a chicken panini and Mac and cheese.
The French onion soup was the best thing on the table hands down. Flavorful, and had this been the only thing ordered, the review would have been different, this is the reaction and why it recueved 3 stars rather than 2.
The barbacoa. Overcooked, chewy and lacked flavor. I am not even sure there was salt used. The Taco was covered in raw radishes. Great for color, not so great for the pallet and did not add anything to the Taco but confusion. The tortilla was good. I did not finish the tacos.
The crispy fish tacos were eaten, and while the crispy seemed to outweigh the fish, these were fine. Not great. Also on the overcooked side. Flavor was better here than the barbacoa.
The chicken sandwich was good. The patron who had it, enjoyed it, but only ate half. The portion size on this was favorable.
Mac and cheese - kraft. This is always a negative points.
Also to take note: two of us ordered tacos. One if us ended up with fries. One of us was given rice. We are still not sure why the variation between plates, it doesn't mention either on the...
Read moreI can't say enough about this restaurant. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is beautiful, and our three crazy kids fit in just fine. We sat next to a picture window with a view of the river and its little waterfalls, and all five of us thoroughly enjoyed our sandwiches/pizza/burger and mixed drinks and IPAs. The fact that the bill came to under $90 for all of those things plus an appetizer is amazing to me. The quality is so much greater than the prices on the menu.
If any of this wasn't enough to bring us back again, the wait staff impressed us tremendously. Our waitress Taylor had just suffered a burn on her hand in the kitchen, and continued to serve after quickly cleaning and wrapping it. Instead of going home right before dinner rush, she took some Advil and kept working. Her coworker Ryan helped her out by helping keep up with drink orders and making sure her customers were happy at their tables.
Even though Taylor's hand was hurting, the dinner rush was about to start and it was getting busy, Taylor and Ryan were cheerful, extremely polite and personable, and displayed great work ethic and teamwork. Overall it was a wonderful and memorable experience and we will...
Read moreWent here on a 1st date. Service/seating upon entering was excellent, the girl was spot on as soon as we walked in. All employees and bar tender wore masks as well. Once we got upstairs the server was also excellent, knowledgeable and attentive before, during and after our order. Prices for wine were more than reasonable as well as the food prices. We had the pot stickers and the fried calamari. The pot stickers seemed a bit hard on the outside, possible overcooked a bit or jist from being frozen, the fried calamari was ok but a bit on the oily side, the dipping sauce for the calamari was a basic red sauce, although they do give you 1 hot sauce and 1 plain sauce but the hot sauce was the same as the regular sauce only sprinkled with hot pepper. This place had a great atmosphere and surrounding people, everyone was nice and the crowd was mixed as far as age group. I would go back for drinks and possibly to try other appetizers in the future. I would love if they added more apps to the menu and did not over cook the potstickers. Over all I gave 3 stars only because of the food but for drinks and service this place...
