From the moment we walked in, no hostess to even say hi... hostess telling us we would be seated quickly...after 15 mins we decided to go ahead and get drinks at the bar since it was not quickly. The bartender a male was rude and couldn't be bothered to be pleasant while getting our order. We had to ask for wine list and menu despite standing at the bar for a few moments. He got the wines splashed all over the glasses spilling our portioned wine on the bar and didn't bother to top off what he spilled or wipe the glasses or the bar from his spillage. We ordered 5 glasses of wine, to witch he merely poured and walked away didn't let us know which glass was which... no thank you nothing.... We were finally seated in the vault... holes in the chair cushion, holes in the plaster and pain on the wall... The waitress went into the menu for the evening... let me preface with our friends saying they have great specials and so many wonderful options, so we were excited to hear their daily special... the waitress... we have no specials today.... soup of the day is miss mushroom soup.... I noted on the menu that there is a nice bold print area letting you no that substitutions are at the chefs discretion... I would expect that at a higher end restaurant, not a place where my waitress has facial piercings, top two buttons of shirt unbuttoned and her hair all over, and holes in chairs cushions and plaster falling off the walls.... Menu had no vegetarian or vegan options so I asked if I could order the sides only from the main entree... the server was visibly concerned about asking the chef that... and stuttered all over herself she would see if that was OK could I just get the goat cheese ravioli and they could not sprinkle the prosciutto on top... I asked to ask the kitchen if I could just get the sides please... We ordered the fried green tomatoes and salads. My daughter and I both ordered the everything wedge salad... all three a disappointment... The fried green tomatoes are clearly a frozen product that they charge way too much for and the Pimento cheese atop was more mayonnaise and white shredded cheese than Pimento or seasoning or cream cheese... the balsamic reduction it also offered on the menu was but a few drops beneath the green tomatoes... The everything salad was supposed to have everything seasoning and a housemade ranch dressing. Both salads came without the everything seasoning and were topped with a dill dressing... it also boasted on menu that it was heirloom tomatoes in the everything wedge salad... again it was not as noted... but cherry tomatoes and lemon cherry tomatoes. We had to stop waitress for water and more wine, bread was brought out very late in the dining experience... I asked for a glass of stiff red when the meal was served... she told me the whiskey barrel wine was stiff at 14%, I explained I meant a very dry red wine, not boozy... she then offered the malbec.... the response to get a glass of red wine with the meal wasthe bartender is too busy I will just order and bring now... for red wine that was OK it got to breathe a little... but had then been a cocktail or white wine for the meal, it was going to sit while I finished the first drink for another 10 minutes etc and water down or warm... Meals arrived and I was granted the sides, not that the waitress ever told me the chef was okay with my request... A plate of root vegetables underseasoned or not seasoned at all... and half very undercooked. My husband's 30+ dollar lobster cakes were again disappointing at best and the asparagus was over cooked. The manager I'm guessing came to clear as we were sharing phones to show videos and pictures across the table she actually put herself in front of the phone to grab a plate... no excuse me or anything... we had to move our arms and stop our conversation for her to clear... not excuse me or pardon me or anything... no water and empty wine glasses all over the table... she did not offer to get us water or more drinks or anything, merely got in the way...
Read moreWe we here for the first time Tuesday December 12th for a business/casual dinner. We had six in our party and only one of us had been there in the past, and he had nothing but good things to say about the place. I’m glad to say I couldn’t agree more. We opened with the artichoke dip and pita along with shrimp cocktail… Wow, it did not last long. For the main course I and two others had the special, which was a 12oz sirloin with sweet potatoes, it was amazing. I can honestly say that this steak was the best I have ever had, I ordered medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection. The seasoning and method used by the chef in preparing both dishes was beyond delicious. I “like” sweet potatoes, but I loved these. My wife ordered her filet mignon (well done), which other places sometimes will not make because the chef refuses to do it, not here, it was made exactly as she ordered it. And just as I described my meal, she said the same about hers. For dessert they had between 8-10 desserts available to choose from, each of the 6 of us got something different. My wife got Crèm Brûlée, it is her favorite dessert, and she said this one was the best she ever had. I had the German Chocolate Cake, again, amazing! Speaking of which, our server Adriana, was excellent! She was very knowledgeable of all dishes and extremely helpful when asked specific questions about the menu. We of course were not her only guests, however you would not have known this by the attention our table received from her. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a relaxing, enjoyable atmosphere, made only better by the delicious meal and high level of service! We will...
Read moreLast week, when my mother was visiting from Oregon, I knew that I wanted to try the Coldwater Cafe with her. I had heard wonderful reviews from friends in Springfield, and had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to try it. Since we had a toddler with us, I wanted to make sure that we were sat outside to avoid disturbing anyone's lunch, as I immediately noted the quiet, tranquil atmosphere inside. The outdoor patio area was lovely, and several other patrons were already eating their lunches. After being sat outside, we started noticing yellow jackets appearing. A waitress mentioned that "at that time of day they seem to come out." What started as one yellow jacket, eventually turned into three, and then so many at other different tables, that we eventually had to move inside. It was so disruptive to our meal, that we honestly didn't really get to enjoy the food. We moved tables outside two times, then finally moved to a third table indoors. We noticed that other patrons seemed to be disturbed by the yellow jackets as well. I believe the restaurant should do something to try to fix the situation. Obviously nature is nature, however yellow jacket traps/spraying/inspection could help the situation- especially if it is a known common occurrence. As for our food, our burger was phenomenal (though not cooked how we ordered it), but the accompanying kettle chips were very basic. My mother's salad with the cucumber dill dressing lacked salt. Overall we were somewhat disappointed in the whole experience. The waitresses were extremely accommodating, but there are improvements we believe the owners could make in order to make it a more...
