Betty's Place — Restaurant in Toledo

I've eaten here several times. I try to limit myself to one visit per month. I really like them.

The food is fairly honest. Its hamburgers/ cheese burgers and seafood baskets mostly. The burgers are very managable and are wrapped open so you can eat it out of the bag. The toppings cut thin so you're not pulling onions and tomatoes out when bitting into the burger. The bacon is crispy rather than chewy.

The fries are crinkle cut fries. Never had onion rings but I think I saw it on the menu.

Shakes are standard soft serve shakes as far as I can tell but they are better than national chain for some reason. They list a lot of different flavors.

Portion value is okay for a small operation right on the road. I think it cost me around $9 for a bacon cheese burger and small fries. Burger size is smaller than The Whopper but definitely larger than McDonald's or Wendys hamburgers.

Outdoor and indoor seating. No drive through.

No public bathroom.

Parking is highly variable. Not a lot of spaces and certain times...

I have heard about the food from Betty’s Place throughout my entire life. I finally visited this place several months ago, and I found it to be great small town burger joint food, like C&L was for Castle Rock in the 80s. I found the food to be decently priced, although I cannot figure out why there’s not a burger basket... The root beer milkshake is excellent as are the fried macaroni and cheese bites. The cheeseburgers are decent, too. I saw many people ordering cones and they each seemed very happy with their selections. My only complaint about this place is that the service isn’t that good. No one has ever been rude to me, but no one has been especially helpful or friendly to me either. I had ordered 5 burgers and every single one of them had something wrong on it. The cashier was nice, and the cook was showing a little attitude but that’s totally okay. An elderly lady (manager, owner idk) came and refunded us and was extremely rude, raising her voice at me and kept giving me dirty looks. As we were getting our refund we overheard two other orders that had gotten messed up and needed a refund or to be remade. Also ALLERGY WARNING: They also cook their fish on the same griddle space as their hamburger and chicken meat. They didn’t clean the grill off or anything just threw the fish on with everything else.
