We went there last Monday and were excited to go. Had seen lots of positive comments and pictures or the food. Once we got there the nightmare started.... First ordering our food... It took over 15 minutes to just place our order. The girl at the counter was new granted but did not listen or comprehend what we were ordering. When she asked other people for help they ignored her even though you could tell they knew what was going on. Once we ordered we went to sit down. Was told they would bring the drinks out soon and would also bring the food. Second negitive..... and this one is huge!!!! We are sitting in two booths visiting when this guy comes up and asks that we move as he has a large group coming in. We told him we really didnt want to split out group he then proceeds to tell our kids they need to move. We moved and found another area where we could sit somewhat together. As we sat there for over an hour no group shows up and we also find out this guy is the owner/manager. Third.... it took over 40 minutes to get our drinks and several trips to the counter. Our food arrived to us before our drinks. When it did arrive it sure did not look like the pictures they show on Facebook. Wilted lettuce.... slimey onion rings... a ice cream drink that finally arrived after our drinks and food that was melted. On a scale of 1 to 5. .. well put it this way no one from the food network would ever consider even trying to rescue this place. Also tried to order ice cream and could not get the girl at the counter to understand that I wanted a chocolate dipped cone and not a crunch cone. Also that I also wanted a peanut butter cup mixer and not a plain peanut butter. Finally just told her to cancel the whole thing as it was by this point 5 minutes to order two things and had two more to order. Thought maybe the ice cream would be better than the food.... Fourth... the management. This guy comes out after I ask to talk to management and we then find out it's the same guy who wanted us to move. Who also moved another family without telling them by picking up their stuff and moving it with out telling them. One of the item being an iPad. When I told him we would not be coming back he offered gift certificates. Waited about a week and never got any. When we contacted them again he said he was not sending them as I said I was not coming back. Now he is offering 5 dollars for a meal that cost almost 50. All in all avoid this place. I was not gonna leave a review until they offered us a whole 5 dollars. As a side not he just told us we can take our business elsewhere as he does not feel that giving us more than 5 dollars is worth our business. McDonald's has better service and customer values than this place. At least when they screw up they give you...
Read moreMotoring down scenic Iowa Highway 30 last Sunday, We became ready for lunch. A sign came up that said something on it, so we got off at the Toledo, IA ramp. Murph's was just off the intersection for old 30. Uncharacteristically, We tried somewhere we had never been before. Murph's Creamery and Grill is a bright, friendly spot to eat! Prices are a little less than most mainstream fast food joints. The service is dandy, and our lunch was hot, fresh and tasty! They serve Tator-tots! I do love me a Tater-tot! Both of us ate too much lunch to enjoy any ice cream treats. Zorn! Look, it is a crying shame to hurry everywhere you go. Skip the "Duck and Shuck" of Interstate driving and drop by Murph's in Toledo. Chances are good ol' Murph his-own-self will greet you. He was at work with his friendly crew on the Sunday we stopped. A cheerful, local guy that serves...
Read moreYou can tell some of the kids are in training, but that's obviously expected when they JUST opened and haven't even had their grand opening yet. Customer service is top notch. I love the "built to order" flexibility in their menu. The menu alone has so many options. This is not your typical fast-food joint. They source as much of their products locally as possible. You're not going to find a better burger in the area. The Ross Street Roasters coffee is to die for. I recommend the hazlenut iced coffee. I am not a big ice cream lover, but I have taken a few bites of my child's, and it was by far the best ice cream I have ever had. Really excited to have a genuine local spot like this, owned by hometown folks. This place will...
