The food and service are excellent! My family had a great time here. It is a little run down and could use a deep cleaning, as with most family restaurants. We'll definitely be back!
22-May-2024 I've returned to update this review after 2 more visits to this restaurant. It turns out, my first visit on a Sunday must be their good day.
On my second visit, I took my family out for brunch. The service was terrible all around. Our server didn't seem to know his job at all. It was as if they brought somebody out from the back to help; perhaps understaffed? Example: my son ordered a side of bacon. Yes, we may all like our bacon prepared differently. But as a server, if I was given a side of bacon to take to my table and it was black, I'd ask the kitchen to prepare a new one and communicate the wait to my table. This guy just delivered it anyways like we all love black, burnt bacon.
Last night we had a USCM event at the Tomahawk High School. We visited this restaurant afterwards for another shot, thinking if it weren't so busy, things may be better. What a huge waste of $100. The people working were clearly irritated they had guests coming in. Aside from the people at the bar near the kitchen, we were the only guests. Since it is Lent, it was not unreasonable to think that the fish specials and clam chowder on the specials board were available, and since our server didn't mention specials or soup, most of us decided without looking at the menu that we were ordering fish. When she came to take our order, she was annoyed that I asked for more time to decide after she told us the specials on the board were for tomorrow (Friday). She said it like we were dumb for not knowing. The last time we were here, the beef barley soup was homemade and delicious. It was full of fresh vegetables and the broth was beefy and tomatoey. After she finally said that was an option, my husband and I both ordered it. OH MY! We were given cups of what looked like overcooked barley in SpaghettiOs sauce AND THEY WERE ICE COLD! I took them back to the counter and told her they were cold. I waited to hear the sounds of the microwave signaling they was done. I didn't eat it. Now it was scalding hot and still tasted like canned crap. My french fries had no flavor. I couldn't add enough salt and ketchup to eat them. And my burger was way undercooked. I didn't eat my food. She kept asking if I wanted a box. Why? Nobody is going to eat that. Nobody else was happy with their food either. Later my husband felt ill. Who knows from what. We won't...
Read moreMy son was in town for just a few hours and the place we usually meet for breakfast was closed so we met here. This is a review of their lack of concern about coronavirus, not of their food. Not a single waitress was wearing a mask. There was no distancing of tables like there was two weeks ago at a restaurant in Michigan, where only every other table was available. The place was packed. Condiment containers were regular large sized, staying on the table between guests. I will not be back until there is a vaccine. I will know where contact tracing will begin if I get sick in the...
Read moreWe were down in Tomahawk on some other business and just happened to stop in Tomahawk Family Restaurant for lunch. What an absolute treat that was! The service was quick and thorough, the order arrived quickly and everything was correct, the food was very tasty... and the price was just right, too! The menu is packed with meals that had our mouths watering and we can't wait to get back down there again to try some of their selections. If you're near Tomahawk when the hunger demon starts acting up, pop on over to Tomahawk Family Restaurant and you'll be grinning on the way out...
