This place is overall very good. I've been here in two separate occasions since I couldn't eat 2 meals in one sitting, but both times were good, with a lot of good and a couple of cons.
The ramen is made pretty well, with the noodles being very firm, the pork chasu was made tender and wasn't soggy in the soup, and the toppings were decent compliments.
Their Takoyaki is one of the better ones in the North Houston side for sure. Decently sized and a good balance of thick batter and octopus to eat. Definitely order it if you're in the mood.
The Donbouris was kind of disappointing if I'm being honest. I had the chicken katsu one and even though the katsu was good and the rice was adequate, including broccoli and ginger in a bowl where it is meant to be a "overfilled" bowl isn't really a Donbouri, it was more like a generic rice bowl lol.
The chicken karaage was also very good. Unlike other places where it seemed like they made the chicken more similar to Taiwanese fried chicken chunks, this place made them like actual karaage method. Thin batter coating and smooth, tender meat pieces. The sauce on the side was also pretty good too.
The main highlight of the place is the service. Both times I had different servers and both were not only polite, but attentive of what was going on, such as refilling my water without asking, was ready for any request, and also brought out some food as "on the house" treat. I want to say that you might not get this EVERY time, nor do I think this will happen often, but it is with mentioning because I want to be transparent with this review.
I only don't do 5 stars because it would mean that there are no flaws, which nothing is perfect lol. But I really do...
Read moreWe had the most wonderful experience. The owner, our host, and our waitress were all fantastic! We felt welcome and enjoyed our dinner with family so much more because of the fabulous service.
I visited this little place because they have onigiri on the menu. The owner was so accommodating to my special request for a spicy tuna and spicy salmon onigiri off-menu. While he said he could only fill special requests when they were not too busy, he was so kind to even offer suggestions on other ideas for off-menu items. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon onigiri were so good. I came back with my whole family two days later for dinner.
We ordered the takoyaki and garlic mussels for appetizers. Both exceeded expectations. The garlic mussels are a must. The Takoyaki was crunchi and fresh. Our group was fighting over who would get the last two. They also gave us free fried egg rolls while we waited, and the guys demolished them.
For our meal, we shared several sushi rolls. The presentation was super fun and nice. We ordered the Sweetheart, Yum Yum, Rice Crispy, and the Lion mane rolls. My favorite was the Yum Yum. It is aptly named. We also ordered unagi sushi pieces and they were fresh and hot and buttery. Just yum! The rolls were fresh, fish was fresh and tasty, good portions.
My husband had the Spicy Pork Ramen. The chasu in the ramen was the absolute most delicious, soft, and flavorful chasu ever. We all agreed we would come back just for that!
Overall, we will definitely come back and try even more things the next time. Highly recommend to support this...
Read moreLet's get the cons out of the way or at least the cons that I can find. The people that I went with were not a fan of the miso soup. They said it was flavorless. For me. Personally I don't eat soup anyway so no issues for me there.
The only other issue that I could find is maybe its location. It's a little bit hidden. The only way I was able to find this place is by looking up sushi places on Google near me.
I don't judge places for the atmosphere but it was not perfect but it works. I don't go to restaurants for the atmosphere. I judge it based on the food. And in Houston most of the best restaurants do not have the best atmosphere, so I'm not going to knock them for this.
Because the food was amazing.
I 100% recommend the squid salad. It's amazing and you can add it on to your sushi or anything else.
I personally had the sashimi and sushi rolls and I've tried many other sushi rolls that were ordered at the same time.
The food was fresh. It tasted great. I will definitely go back.
More people should definitely know about this place, especially if you like sushi and ramen.
It's a must check out if you like this kind of food.
I would compare this place with Bloofin which is my favorite restaurant for sushi. But this place the food taste is just as good and has much better pricing. That's a big deal and I don't have to drive as far. So I would definitely visit this place more. I truly have yet to see good pricing like this with sushi restaurants...
