August 21, 2021 - It’s a hot summer day, you need something cold & Sweet . . . try DQ’s tasty DAIRY TREATS! ( FDA requires at least 10% buttermilk fat, to call it ICE CREAM) Oh well, it looks like ice cream! I go for the chocolate raspberry w/chocolate chunks Blizzard! Yum! I hear many DQ’s offer burgers, fries, hot dogs, and other lunch items. . . Usually people walk away with milkshakes, dipped cones, banana splits, and other “DAIRY TREATS”! I like them all ! Topsham’s DQ is a small place on Main Street. Not sure how long it’s been around, but there’s a sign on the wall that reads, “ LBJ stopped in 1966”! The service is good, and the price reasonable. I rate this a solid 4.5, wish it stayed open more months in the year. I guess “demand” declines in the colder months. The owners nail up boards over the windows as fall & winter approach. Fun DQ Facts *DQ founded in 1940 *John McCullough, son Alex, Shurb Noble (founders) *1st DQ at 501 N. Chicago Street in Joliet, Illinois (Historic landmark) 1953 - DQ moves into Canada 🇨🇦 1957 - DQ introduces Brazier 1958 - DQ introduces Red Logo 1962 - DQ becomes International DQ, Inc. 1985 - DQ introduced Blizzard 1987 - IDQ purchased Orange Julius 1998 - Berkshire Hathaway bought IDQ *Texas has most DQ stores ( currently) *U.S. has 4,455 DQ stores *Currently 6,800 DQ stores globally * Currently DQ in 25 countries

Awesome start to the season. I got myself a blizzard of the Hawaiian style and my son got a Banana split and it was all delicious. Sometimes the ice cream can melt insanely quick, but overall a great place to start or continue some memories.

Shocked! For as long as I have been going to this DQ they’ve been open until 8:00 pm. No, I didn’t check their website and hours but neither did anyone else in line or driving in. As my husband and I were in line just before 7:00pm I actually heard the woman taking orders at the first window say to the family waiting in line ahead of us, “So, you’re still hanging out after I told you that we close at 7:00?” I thought she was joking with the family because she knew them. It wasn’t until the mom said that they didn’t hear the woman say that they closed at 7 and “ don’t speak to us that way” that I realized they didn’t know her and she wasn’t kidding! OMG! I’ve never heard such blatant rudeness coming from a customer service person. At least 6 other customers including my husband I were turned away as well as new customers that weren’t already in line waiting. Most of us met up at Fielders Choice in Brunswick where I know we will be going from now on. Goodbye DQ in Topsham. Yes I’m tossing out the baby with the bath water! And I hope the woman at the window realizes her behavior is a...

Unfortunately, we encountered a very unprofessional staff conversation about what the customer ahead of us ordered, which turned us off from coming back.

For context, the customer got something other than what they thought they had ordered and very politely informed the staff. The girl said they would take care of it. The customer was a little girl maybe 8 or so with her mom.

We were being helped at the other window at this point. All of the staff proceeded to have a very loud conversation about how the customer actually ordered what was made, and that it really wasn't their fault and in fact it was the customer was wrong. All of this while the customer was waiting for their replacement order.

Although most we're teenage girls working, a woman who was a older and was probably the manager even participated. This should have been something to take in the back and not in front of any customer. I hope you make your staff aware of this incident and use it as an example in the future of...
