As I've said many times, customer service can make or break an experience. Unfortunately for this establishment, the customer service very much broke this experience.
Coming inside, I was no greeted. I bring this up, not because it was particularly a problem, but every guest after me was. I had to ask if I could sit at the counter, as it was just myself, as no one asked me where I'd like to sit while I stood at the sign that said "please wait to be seated." After sitting, I still waited a few to receive a menu, as the waitresses were more concerned chatting with others at the counter than anything else.
Once I received my menu I was asked what I'd like to drink and I just asked for water. When she came back I mentioned what I'd like, and that was basically the last time she interacted with me. The glass the water came in also wasn't cleaned well, as I had a floaty, but to get any interaction with my waitress was pretty much impossible. The meal came quick, as it wasn't that busy when I arrived, but it was just slid to me without a word. She then spent her time talking to the others and having conversations with other guest who arrived. I had to make sure I didn't have a shirt on saying "don't talk to me leave me alone" as I wasn't sure why else I was receiving this kind of service. I would say please or thank you, no response. She did the very bare minimum with interacting with me as she possibly could.
The food was not bad. The chocolate chip pancake was good. Crispy edges, soft interior, melted chocolate chips. The egg skillet with hash brown was pretty bland, though. Neither the eggs nor the hash browns were seasoned at all.
Not once was I asked if I wanted a refill of water, as I was empty for a while, how my food was, if I wanted anything else, etc. Just a slip slid over the me without a word and that was it.
I give this a 2 instead of a 1 only because the food wasn't that bad, but it was pricy. $21 for small egg skillet and a single pancake for one person. I wouldn't mind the prices if the service was even 50% better. I couldn't figure out why she was this way towards me, as every other customer who came after me she seemed to be very kind and attentive to.
If you're a regular, I'm sure you love their place. As it seemed everyone else knew each other. If you're just looking for a place for breakfast, unfortunately isn't good enough to be worth your time. Between the decent enough food, high prices and pretty poor service, there are better options for breakfast in the local area to...
Read moreGo! Just Go! Closed Mon & Tues, this wonderful diner is open @ 6 AM thru 1 pm (or 1:30 pm, depending upon the day). It's CASH ONLY. There is an ATM just inside the door. Check out the MENU PICS-- there's even a full kids' menu! K.K. offers a large variety of entree choices. We stopped in twice while visiting Maine-- once entering the state & then again when leaving the state. The breads are made by a local baker-- check out the pic of Cinnamon Apple Bread! If you want to take a pre-sliced loaf home, it's $10. (SEE PIC) You can order INCREDIBLE corned beef hash made on site (or canned hash). The pancakes were large & fluffy. (Genuine maple syrup will cost you $3 extra.) Our eggs & Irish Benedict were VERY good. The Monte Cristo was PACKED w/ three types of meat (but not battered & deep fried as they are prepared in Florida). Fresh muffins were available for purchase beside the register. Service was very good. LOTS of regulars @ this eatery, which is always a great sign. Will definitely stop in on our return trip to the state. You...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would! TERRIBLE FOOD, they claim it is homemade food, but not that is so far from the truth. Hollandaise sauce is from a package per the waitress. Corned beef hash is from the can per the waitress and the disgusting salty mush that it is. The Home fries, they might actually cut the potatoes up for, but I'm doubtful. The sausage on the other eggs Benedict was tiny little cubes that tasted like nothing. They should taste their food and make sure it's edible before they decide to put it on the menu or use the ingredients they choose. Just because you plate it doesn't make it homemade BTW. I'd skip this place if i were you and I surely don't plan to ever go back.
Go to Bintliff's Corner Brew in Gardiner if you actually want homemade breakfast and their corned beef hash has literal hunks of meat, real meat they cook, not...
