Usually the food there was good, and the servers on point. But not last night! I had planned my husband's birthday celebration there again as last year. A bunch of friends get together for dinner and a visit. We arrived the table was in place and partially set. A knife and napkin, but no forks. As our friends joined us we ordered our drinks. The waiter came over and sort of took our appetizer order. Skipped right over 2 people in our party. (There was 10 of us) so we had to hail him back. We waited quite a while, then the appetizers came out haphazardly. I had ordered a salad instead of the veggy, and another friend ordered a salad to split with her husband. The salad came out in 2 plates as he thought they wanted a full size salad split in 2 bowls?? My salad did not come and I asked the waiter and he said oh that will come out with your meal. Well that's a first. I have always gotten my salad first even when ordered in palace of a veggie. So we ordered our food. The waiter asked who was on what checks and proceeded to take our orders. This poor chap was definitely in over his head and obviously not getting much help from the kitchen. One of our friends ordered a salad with quinoa and shrimp. Just before our food started to arrive, the waiter comes back out and informs her that "the quinoa went bad so they didn't have any more" well...first of all a trained person would have just said that they ran out to save face for the restaurant. So my friend said just give me the salad with shrimp only. All our food started coming out in waves...and I didn't get my salad yet again. We all had our meals, my husband's was cold...and still no salad for my friend. Finally it came out. It was a bowl of kale. No shrimp just a bowl of kale. She didn't eat it and at this point I was mad. They should not have charged her for it as we we're practically done eating by the time she got it and it was not what she ordered. When the checks came, we had someone else's order on our check too. Beware if you eat here. Watch your checks. I can tell you the food was tolerable at best and we will not be back. The service was bad. This place really needs to train their Waite staff to LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMER! I am all about customer service and to have your waiter ask you to repeat yourself and still get it wrong... Wake up your kitchen staff to be a little more on the ball and make what is ordered all together. Sorely disappointed. I could go on about our experience here but I think you...
Read moreI’ve been here three times so here is my review from those three times:
Dining: the location is pretty and easy going. Can fit larger or small parties and the wait stuff are always kind.
Atmosphere: family friendly, good casual date place or after church lunch stop.
Appetizers: The food is okay. The spinach and artichoke dip is good, crab Rangoon is good, pretzels are good. Coconut shrimp is 6 pieces with a salad garnish(??) and was burnt, definitely not worth the price.
Entrees: do not order the lobster roll. I repeat…. Do NOT order the lobster roll. I’m not Gordon Ramsey but to me, the lobster tasted frozen: watery and no good texture, absolutely no flavor. I didn’t end up finishing it, which being a foodie I rarely do. It has zero seasoning and just is NOT good. The bun wasn’t toasted and I knew right then and there I was an idiot for ordering the roll at a place like that. The burgers are good, but ask them to watch the salt. This place would do well to maybe take a course in properly seasoning food, because while your fries will be unsalted your burger will taste like you’re licking a salt lick (harsh… but true). The fish and chips would have been good….. if they were seasoned. Deep fried pieces of fish with good texture but absolutely no seasoning. Idk, maybe I’m asking for a lot… but a pinch salt and pepper would make it so much better. Unless you enjoy plain fried batter and fish.
Drinks: the cocktails are hit and miss. The fruity cocktails have a heavy pour…. Being overly generous with the tequila does not make for a better drink :( there was a PB hot chocolate cocktail (or something along those lines) I had once and that and the normal hot chocolate are decent. I’m not a beer or IPA gal so I’m sorry I can’t speak to that, but that might be what you wanna stick to here.
Overall takeaway: they’re okay. We spent $75 for two people: one appetizer, two drinks, two entrees. Tip included and that’s about $90. There’s better places to eat in Brunswick if you’re going to...
Read moreTook my kids out for what I thought would be a quick lunch with a view. This was our first time to Sea Dogs after moving to Maine and I have been wanting to come here just for a beer and a view if nothing else. The interior is great and decorated well. They have outdoor seating that gives you a great view of the river and bridge.
We requested to be seated outside, even with the wait. We didn't get a table for to the side so our view wasn't anything special but being outdoors in a sunny day was nice, especially after all of the rain we've had since we moved here. The service was super slow. We waited way to Long for our beverages at the start and then waited another decent amount of time just for a refill. Our food took almost 45 min to get to us from the time we placed the order. Simple items such as, peanut butter and jelly, tortilla chips with a hint of melted cheese and a side of Pace picante (which is called nachos on the kids menu) and the hardest of them all, a cheese steak sandwich. I don't told by my waitress that they had dropped my first sandwich and had to make another one and she apologized for the wait. I'm fine with that but I don't understand why it took that long for my kids items to get out?!
I wish I could end this review with a bang and say that the food finally arrived and it was well worth the wait but, it definitely was not. The nachos were stale, the fries were not hot and my sandwich tasted more like a shredded beef sandwich soaked in oil. I'm sure the PB&J would have been decent if it had been brought out when it was made but it came out with slightly hard bread so that only received a few bites as well.
We left with more than half of the food on our plates, 1 refill in over an hour and down $45 in my checking account for overpriced, overrated food.
I may return for a drink or two but I'll pass on the food that go around. I had high hopes for this place being a brewery and somewhere to bring our out of...
