Upon arrival we were told by three people someone would be by to seat us. Had reservations over two weeks. When we finally were sat at our table our server was very nice and very attentive(the only positive of the night). Although we were never asked if we would like to see the menu they assumed we were there for the buffet. Other members of our party wanted the buffet. Some didn't. We all got the buffet because we were sat in that room I guess. Still never got a reason why. The salad bar consisted of salad, cole slaw and macaroni salad. Toppings were boiled eggs, cucumber and onion. Italian and ranch dressings only. land and sea buffet was dried out pork, chicken and dumplings and fatty over done roast beef. The sea portion consisted of boxed frozen haddock and crab cakes that looked like a chicken patty from a school lunch. Clams and peel and eat shrimp to finish off the sea part of the meal the clams were very small and the shrimp was chewy. Manicotti stuffed with cottage cheese that tasted off. Steamed soggy mixed veggies , mashed potatoes, and gummy stuffing were the sides. A pineapple stuffing like dish that when asked what it was we were told to guess and when we couldn't were told pineapple, cheddar cheese and Ritz crackers. We thought the cheese was maybe coconut, it was very chewy. Dessert was a table of boxed frozen cake and cheese cake. An apple crisp they made that was very over cooked with so much cinnamon it tasted very spicy. Our bill came to $168.00 for 5 with 3 drinks from the bar, the remainder of us drinking water. The meal fell very short of the advertising put out and the cost. This was supposed to be a big deal as we took our father out for his 70th birthday. The man will literally eat anything and he had to find a bathroom quickly during dinner because he thought he was going to be sick. The clams made him Ill. I wish we could have taken him somewhere else if we had known how sad this evening would have turned out. Disappointing to...

My husband and I had our wedding here 10/3/21 and it was beyond perfect!
First of all, the venue is absolutely stunning especially in the fall. It makes for a perfect rustic fall wedding! It exactly fit the aesthetic we were going for! Second, the food was INCREDIBLE! It was loved and raved about by each and every one of our guests! And they even let us take left overs (which we thoroughly enjoyed)!! Third, the pricing was OUTSTANDING! Including food it is truly a price you can’t beat - and even though it was very affordable, it wasn’t as the saying goes “you get what you pay for”. To us, the day felt like it was worth a million dollars! You just can’t put a price on how amazing our day was, but we are so thankful to the Afton River Club for their affordable pricing that definitely helped us make our dream day HAPPEN! And lastly, the customer service we received totally blew us away! Kyle helped us throughout the ENTIRE wedding planning process with more than just the venue and food - he even recommended places to get a cake and was there for any question we had about how to plan a wedding!
I would 1,000% recommend to anyone to have their wedding here! If I could do it all over I would still choose The Afton River Club to host my...
Read moreI have to say the food was much better than I expected. Being a small town venue, I never thought it would have such a wide variety of dishes. I had a small select few items to eat and all were delicious. I expected the stuffing to be dry, amazing. I probably had more of that than the other items I ate. I made a ham sandwich, not a turkey person. Ham was moist, pineapple salad, never had before, delicious too! Mashed potatoes, could maybe have had a touch more milk to make less thick, but delicious too! I had carrot cake, pecan pie, lemon meringue pie and ? All were good but pecan pie is always my favorite . We were a party of 7, everyone had way to much to eat and want to go next year. Maybe I'll...
