A Taste of the Himalayas in Arcade: A Rave Review of "Indian Bistro" In the quaint village of Arcade, nestled amongst charming shops and historic buildings, lies a hidden gem: "Indian Bistro." Stepping inside is like taking a mini-vacation to the foothills of the Himalayas, with vibrant colors, warm aromas, and the friendly smiles of the staff immediately transporting you to another world. But the real magic begins on your plate:

Food fit for a Maharaja: From the first bite of the melt-in-your-mouth samosas, bursting with fragrant potatoes and spices, to the creamy richness of the butter chicken, each dish is a symphony of flavors and textures. The lamb rogan josh with its tender meat and fiery kick, the delicately spiced saag paneer, and the fluffy, pillowy naan fresh from the tandoor oven - every element is cooked to perfection, bursting with authenticity and care.

Service as warm as chai: The staff at "Indian Bistro" are the epitome of Indian hospitality. Attentive without being intrusive, they guide you through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, offering recommendations and explaining the nuances of each dish. They take the time to understand your preferences, ensuring your dining experience is personalized and memorable.

A feast for the senses: The ambiance at "Indian Bistro" is as delightful as the food. Traditional Indian music fills the air, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The decor is tasteful and charming, with colorful tapestries and intricate carvings transporting you to the bustling streets of Delhi. It's a place where you can linger for hours, savoring every bite and feeling transported to a faraway land.

Hidden gem no more: While "Indian Bistro" may be off the beaten path, it's a detour worth taking. This is a restaurant that puts love and passion into every dish, offering an authentic taste of Indian cuisine that rivals any five-star establishment. If you're looking for a unique, delicious, and truly memorable dining experience, look no further than "Indian Bistro." You'll leave with a full belly, a happy heart, and a longing to return for another taste of paradise.

Rating: Five stars, plus a standing ovation! "Indian Bistro" is not just a restaurant, it's an experience. Don't miss out on this culinary gem in Arcade, New York.

P.S. Be sure to try the mango lassi for a refreshing and authentic ending to your meal. You...

The Scarlet Vetter Says.....wow. This gem is tucked away in a small storefront on the main strip in Arcade, New York, near the Arcade Railroad Depot (282 Main Street, Arcade, NY). Do not let the small footprint deter you as the food here competes with the big boys in Buffalo. The service was attentive and helpful, an extremely knowledgeable and gregarious server! She was able to answer all of my and the hubby's food questions and took our order by memory and everything we ordered, we received. We started with Mango lassi, which is a chilled yogurt drink with mango pulp. Yum. After the food arrived, we asked for coriander chutney, and she got it to us straight away. It was absolutely homemade with a lovely hint of mint. The tamarind sauce was also delicious. We ordered vegetable samosas for appetizers, which were perfect. Crisp exteriors and moist fragrant potatoes and peas and spices on the inside. We also ordered Aloo Tikki, which was excellent. For the main courses, we ordered Chicken Curry and Butter Chicken. They both came with delicious rice flavor tinged with Turmeric. For breads, we ordered Garlic Naan and Gobi Paratha. The chicken in both dishes was simply melt in your mouth. The curry had a pleasant heat and was a delicious blend of garlic, turmeric, cumin, onion, and other spices. The chicken in the Butter Chicken was perfectly braised in a rich tomato and butter gravy with the scent and flavor of a host of aromatic herbs like garlic, ginger, cumin, coriander, cardamom, and I think I detected some cinnamon. Just fabulous! The Garlic Naan (garlic infused flatbread) and the Gobi Paratha were homemade, the naan was airy and warm, and the Gobi (whole wheat bread stuffed with cauliflower baked over a hot griddle) was perfect! The total damage was $74.43 before tip, and we had enough left over for a second meal. I loved that the plates we were given were large and substantial, and the food was served in traditional copper exterior Indian cuisine dishes with brass handles. The only negative I can provide was the bright colored out of place "fruit theme" on the one wall and a desert theme on the other. I am sure it is because the owners simply took over an existing restaurant space and wanted to get up and running with minimal time. Take the trip to check out this place. Your taste buds will...

A casual, family-run place with daily specials on the board behind the cash register. Open daily 11am-9pm, with a new feature of an all you care to eat buffet for $19.99. The menu is grouped according to vegetarian and meat choices, with clear descriptions of ingredients. Lamb, beef, chicken, goat, fish, and then the styles of preparation: Vindaloo, biryani, Tikka masala, etc. The flat breads are freshly prepared and delicious: Garlic naan is among the best I've ever had. If you like yogurt drinks, try the mango lassi, a large milkshake-like beverage with a hint of rosewater. One evening I ordered an appetizer of a mushroom-coconut soup, and it was generous enough for three people and very comforting. A word about the rice: basmati is grown at high altitudes in the Himalayas, and the long grain smells like popcorn when steamed. This restaurant goes the extra mile and colors their rice yellow, as if it had been treated with saffron, a dish for maharajas and sultans. Entrees and rice are served in hammered brass bowls, as they have been for millenia in the Motherland. Bollywood song/dance videos are on a big screen in a side room for an appealing effect. I'm not saying it was terrible, but wasn't good either. Honestly I'm quite disappointed. Samosa - I didn't eat that, please change the oil. And that's the first time ever samosa was served without green and/or tamarind chutneys (see the photos). Minor, but: samosa served first not after the main dish. Lamb biryani: if you expect any of the following to be in your biryani, don't eat there, not a trace of these: birysta, garlic, ginger, fresh coriander, mint, cardamon, kewda/rose water. But it had: scallions, red onion, sweet pepper. Flavor is super far from what I would expect, some sort of pilaf, not biryani. Garlic naan: barely any garlic if any at all, and super small. Ras Malai: served in some transparent syrup. First time tried this variation. Too sweet and meh in general... Ps: I realize that recipes can vary a lot from region to region and from cook to cook. So you decide after reading why I didn't like it. Quality is also a question (e.g. oil).

We went to dinner with no intentions of getting Indian food but the other place was closed. We didn’t even know there was an Indian place in the area so we decided to stop in and omg am I glad we did!!!! My favorite Indian place closed years ago in the north towns and haven’t found a decent place until now. I had lamb biryani and my husband had the chicken vindaloo. The herbs in biryani were so delicious, the meat was so tender, and it had a slight spice- so good. The vindaloo was so so so creamy and the flavor was just right. We both devoured our plates and could’ve licked the plates clean. I also washed it down with a mango lassi. The cook/owner came out with samples of her dessert that were so delicious. I would’ve ordered some but I was so deliciously full I couldn’t breathe haha. Cannot wait to go back!!!
