A Phoenix rising from the ashes of the pandemic. That’s how I’d describe the Orange Moose Bar & Grill. About a dozen years ago the wife and I decided that instead of buying a Northwoods cabin, we’d patronize a host that could deliver the experience with fidelity. A handful of times annually in the intervening years the Orange Moose and It’s associated hotel have served that function. We’ve seen many changes at the Moose over the years, many during the trying days of the pandemic.
While the overall trend has been toward reduced hours and services, I’m delighted to see the flicker of new life in the Orange Moose. This weekend we attended their New Years Eve party, which was well-planned, and provided to the opportunity to stay off the road on amateur night as we were able simply to walk to our room. The menu at the bar included their usual staples of pizza and fryer food, which was augmented with the daily specials of pulled pork or chicken, which was great to see. Other recent efforts include free pool night, and a forthcoming go at bingo Sundays.
All told, the Orange Moose Bar & Grill is on the path to returning to its storied past – transitioning from its pandemic role as an amenity exclusively for hotel guest - to its former broader command as an attraction that drew the community and passers by alike to its...
Read moreThis is my first review. Ever. I will say that when my wife ordered her steak VERY well done that they did bring it out very well done, this doesn't happen very often. It wasn't very well seasoned but was cooked to order. My burger I ordered well done, I have pictures it was bleeding. It took so long to get our food (we were there just shy of 2 hours) that I ate what I could stand and left the rest. I didn't complain, no amount of free food or money back would get me back there so it was pointless.
The appetizer sample platter was hit and miss. Cheese curds great, motz sticks great, the buffalo moose wings were plain cold. Not a cold like they sat out for a while but a cold like they pressed the wrong button on the microwave.
This place is unusual and has potential, needs Robert Irvine to come in and school the owners. Please don't blame the wait staff, they did the...
Read moreMy boyfriend and arrived and the waitress told us to have a seat anywhere and they would be right with us. We sat and waited for 15 minutes with no help. We decided to leave, we went to the front desk of the hotel complained and asked where else we could eat. They apologized and made suggestions. After some thought we decided we would order from The Orange Moose and get it to go. When my boyfriend went to order the front desk of the hotel was speaking with the waitress about our complaint and she was being very rude and not empathetic at all. My boyfriend was very upset, we still ordered our food even though we were very frustrated and disappointed in the service. We will not be staying at the Bedt Western or eating at The Orange Moose again when we come...
